Once the 'low-altitude unmanned aerial vehicle traffic management' platform is developed, a management system for preventing accidents and disasters caused by drones—such as collisions between drones or between drones and buildings, privacy violations by illegal drones, and terrorism—will be established. KT plans to contribute to the revitalization of the domestic unmanned aerial vehicle industry by researching and developing a 'Unmanned aerial system Traffic Management (UTM)' system and technology to support and manage public and private unmanned aerial vehicles operating at altitudes of 150 meters or less by 2021.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport is conducting the 'Multi-Ministry Joint Planning Project (43.7 billion KRW/5 years)' together with the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning and the National Police Agency, and the Ministry is responsible for the 'Development of Traffic Management System and Demonstration Testing.' The Ministry will first invest 19 billion KRW to promote the 'Development of Low-Altitude Traffic Management System and Demonstration Testing for the Safe Operation of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles' project.

KT expressed its thoughts on the selection results, stating that it was recognized for its efforts in developing the world's first 5G technology and standardization, its intelligent network capabilities, and its know-how in developing and operating network platforms. Moving forward, KT plans to explore new markets related to air traffic systems and accident prevention, as well as ways to integrate 5G-based autonomous vehicles with its disaster safety platform business.
