NVIDIA Announces Thin and Fast Max-Q Design Laptops at Computex
Published2017.05.31 09:49NVIDIA (CEO Jensen Huang) unveiled Max-Q, a new design approach set to completely revolutionize gaming laptops with thinner thickness, lower noise, and faster speeds, at Computex, Asia's largest technology exhibition, which began on May 30 (Taiwan local time). The new gaming laptops are scheduled to be released through major laptop manufacturers worldwide starting June 27.
Max-Q, which plays a key role in NASA's missions to send humans into space, refers to the point where the maximum aerodynamic pressure is applied to a rocket during atmospheric flight. Therefore, rocket designs are precisely engineered around Max-Q. NVIDIA has applied a similar concept to gaming laptop design, enabling manufacturers to create laptops that are three times thinner and three times more powerful compared to previous generation products.
A high-performance gaming platform has been created that is as thin as the MacBook Air with a thickness of at least 18mm, while offering up to 70% improved gaming performance compared to currently available products.
At the heart of this performance is NVIDIA Pascal™, the world's most efficient gaming GPU architecture. To deliver even more powerful performance to thin laptops, NVIDIA has optimized and configured Pascal for higher efficiency. Furthermore, maximizing efficiency was pursued by precisely designing every element of the design—including the laptop, GPU, drivers, heat dissipation, and electrical components—centered around Max-Q.
With Max-Q design laptops, gamers can experience vivid gaming and high-resolution entertainment anytime, anywhere. Max-Q design laptops support all GeForce gaming platforms, including the latest gaming technologies, Game Ready drivers, NVIDIA G-SYNC™ display technology, VR, and 4K gaming.
Laptops designed with Max-Q can also immediately utilize NVIDIA GeForce Experience, a software platform that ensures the best gaming experience at all times by providing automatic game profiles so that gamers can enjoy playing with optimal settings right away.
