These intelligent power modules (IPMs) can reduce system costs and the bill of material (BOM) by integrating a single-switch boost PFC stage and a three-phase inverter into a single package. This allows for the integration of additional functions in the remaining PCB space. They are suitable for controlling induction motors and permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs) with single-phase PFC in variable speed drives commonly used in air conditioners or low-power motor drives with a maximum power capacity of 2 kW.

The PFC IGBTs in the CIPOS Mini IPM utilize external driver circuitry, allowing customers to flexibly design switching behaviors. Additionally, the CIPOS Mini achieves superior electrical performance by combining Trenchstop™ IGBTs with optimized SOI gate drivers. With integrated PFC, the CIPOS Mini offers inverter current ratings of 4A, 6A, 10A, and 15A. Designers can select PFC switching frequencies of 20kHz or 40kHz. The package is designed for power applications requiring excellent thermal conductivity and electrical isolation. The product features an EMI reduction design and overload protection.

Depending on the power rating, the CIPOS Mini is available in DCB or fullPak packages. Both package products include overcurrent protection, under-voltage lockout, and temperature monitoring functions, providing a high level of protection and fail-safe operation. In addition, bootstrap diodes are integrated for high-side driving to simplify system design and lower system costs.
