HumOn, an application that creates sheet music by humming, is incredibly popular overseas.
Published2017.06.09 13:33Midem, one of the world's top three music fairs, hosts the Midemlab, an annual awards program that recognizes and rewards notable entertainment startups. Past winners include Germany's SoundCloud, often called the YouTube of the music world for its podcasts and free music; the American crowdfunding service Kickstarter; and The Echo Nest, acquired by Spotify for its music curation technology.
This year, 136 companies from 32 countries applied across four categories: Music Creation & Education, Music Distribution & Discovery, Marketing & Data/Analytics, and Experiential Technologies. A total of 20 finalists were selected. Cool Jam Company was the only Korean company to participate.
HumOn is an app that allows anyone to easily create music just by humming. It is a service developed using music score generation technology through voice analysis and automatic accompaniment generation technology based on machine learning. The currently running beta app has recorded approximately 300,000 downloads on Android OS alone, and the official version is scheduled to be released along with the iOS App Store launch in August.
CEO Choi Byeong-ik, who received the winner's trophy, said, "Musicians and music professionals from all over the world were able to empathize and enjoy music through its language, and feel the power and unity that music has." He added, "This was an opportunity to once again confirm the potential of HumOn in the global market."
Meanwhile, Cool Jam Company has entered the European market by attending not only MIDEM but also the 'Pioneers Festival' held in Vienna, Austria, the 'Startup Village' held in Moscow, Russia, and 'Sonar+D' held in Barcelona, Spain in June.

악보 못 읽어도 작곡해요, 쿨잼입니다!
23일(화) 코엑스에서 열린 글로벌 스타트업 컨퍼런스 부스를 둘러보던 중, 마이크 앞에 섰다. “한번 해보세요! 쉬워요!” “흠~음흠흥흠!~”하자, 악보가 나타났다. 흥얼거리는 콧노래, ‘허밍’으로 녹음하고, 음을 수정하고, 원하는 장르를 선택하면 악보를, ‘노래’를 만들어주는 꿀잼컴퍼니의 험온(Hum un)이다. 악보는 SNS로 공유할 수 있고, 앱 내에서 관리할 수 있다. “따로 홍보한 적은 없는데, 베타버젼 다운로드가 250만을 넘겼어요. 60%는 외국 시장이고, 40%가 한국이예요.” 좋은건 알아보는 사람들의 안목에 국내 매체는 물론 미국의 테크크런치에도 보도된 바 있다. 험온의 주요 기능은 음을 신호로 옮겨오는 정보복원기술(MIR)과 어울릴만한 반주를 추천해주는 머신러닝 기법이다. 정보복원기술은 사람의 목소리 뿐만 아니라 파도소리, 빗물 소리 등으로도 작곡을 할 수 있어 악기를 다루지 못하고 악보를 읽을 수 없어도 누구나 작곡을 할 수 있다. 반주는 발라드부터 오케스트라, 록 등 여러 반주를 추천해주는 데 기계에 코드와 화성법을 학습시켜 어울릴만한 반주를 추천해주는 방식이다. “이러다 작곡가들 다 굶어 죽는 것 아닌가요?” “누구나 쉽게 작곡할 수 있지만, 작곡가들도 편하게 작곡할 수 있게 된거죠.” 현재 안드로이드 휴대폰에서 베타버젼으로 이용할 수 있으며 정식버전과 IOS버젼도 올해 출시 예정이다. 험온은 삼성전자 사내 벤쳐 육성기업 C랩에서 최병익 대표의 아이디어로 만들어졌다. 최 대표와 4명의 마음 맞는 직원은 지난해 5월 삼성전자에서 독립했고, 싱어송라이터와 디자이너가 추가 합류하며 7명의 꿀잼컴퍼니를 이뤘다.

The key to spreading AI agents in the financial sector is establishing a trustworthy data system. KB Kookmin Bank is operating over 100 AI agents by 2025 and is promoting expansion to 300. AI is automating repetitive tasks across various areas such as consultation, risk management, wealth management, and relationship management. However, if data quality, governance, and semantic structuring are insufficient, errors and risks increase. KB is building an AI-Ready organization through a multi-model strategy of GPT, Gemini, and Claude, as well as a Snowflake-based data system.
