KT Supports Smart Farms to Make Mushroom Cultivation Easier for Beginner Farmers
Published2017.06.15 16:34The 'Mushroom Cultivation Dome House Smart Farm' demonstration complex is the result of joint development between KT and Green Maritime over the past two years through the Small and Medium Business Administration's mutual growth program.
By combining KT's GiGA smart farm solution utilizing IoT/big data technology and Green Maritime's smart farm hardware technology, we have implemented a total smart farm solution in the form of a dome house optimized for mushroom cultivation for the first time in Korea.
The two companies plan to derive optimal cultivation conditions necessary for shiitake mushroom production through professional operation of Green Farm, an agricultural corporation, in a demonstration complex of five buildings measuring 50 pyeong each.
In the future, we plan to support novice farmers using KT's smart farm solution to be able to produce shiitake mushrooms stably without difficulty.
Based on this demonstration complex, KT and Green Maritime plan to expand smart farm mushroom cultivation complexes nationwide. First, in the second half of 2017, they will build a 50-pyeong, 4-unit smart farm for mushrooms in Seogwang-dong, Andeok-myeon, Seogwipo-si, Jeju-do, with agricultural society corporation Smart Farmers. In addition, we plan to contribute to creating rural jobs by building three additional 50-pyeong buildings with the participation of members including local residents, retirees, and those planning to retire.
KT Future Business Development Division Director Koh Yoon-jeon emphasized, “The smart farm demonstration complex that we just opened is an exemplary model of cooperation for joint growth between large and small businesses that combines the capabilities of large and small businesses, and a leading case of the 4th industrial revolution in agriculture that combines cutting-edge ICT technologies such as IoT, big data, and smart farms.” He added, “KT will actively take the lead in creating rural jobs and strengthening agricultural competitiveness.”

KT Introduces IoT to Improve Air Quality in Middle and High Schools
KT는 날씨와 공기서비스전문기업인 케이웨더와 함께 IoT 기술을 활용하여 실내외 공기질 측정이 가능한 학교전용 ‘스마트 공기질 관리 솔루션’을 국내 최초로 경기도 양주시의 한국외식과학고등학교에 적용한다고 4일 밝혔다. KT와 케이웨더는 한국외식고등학교 21개 교실과 학교 운동장에 공기질 측정기를 설치하고 24시간 365일 미세먼지, 초미세먼지, 온도, 습도, 생활가스(VOCs), 이산화탄소(CO2), 소음 등의 공기질 정보를 제공한다. 한국외식고등학교는 ’스마트공기질 관리 솔루션’을 통해 제공되는 공기질의 상태를 확인하여 미세먼지 측정수치가 나쁨으로 나올 경우 도교육청이 배포한 ‘고농도미세먼지 대응 실무 메뉴얼’에 맞춰 야외 활동과 교실환기를 중단하고 공기청정기를 가동하는 등의 절차를 따른다.
