Keysight provides test solutions for Qualcomm 5G cellular chipset development
Published2017.06.27 10:06Keysight Technologies announced its collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies, a subsidiary of Qualcomm, to realize 5G technology. Keysight provides integrated design and test solutions to support chipset development for next-generation cellular devices.
Qualcomm Technologies validates chipset technology and upper-layer protocols required for 5G through Keysight's portfolio of 5G network emulation solutions based on the new UXM 5G wireless test platform.
Keysight's scalable solutions supporting sub-6 GHz and mmWave (millimeter wave) will enable Qualcomm Technologies to measure IC performance and resolve potential measurement challenges that may be encountered in 5G pilot testing.
Satish Dhanasekaran, Vice President and General Manager of Keysight's Wireless Test Division, stated, "As 3GPP accelerates the 5G NR non-standalone specification, we are pleased to collaborate with Qualcomm Technologies to support the protocol and RF workflow of 5G programs," and added, "Our software and hardware platforms support 5G design and measurement, and provide the measurement scalability and performance necessary for testing from initial requirements through final standards."

Keysight Announces New PXIe Instruments, Including Arbitrary Waveform Generators
Keysight Technologies announced ten new PXIe instruments, including the industry's first PXI oscilloscope as well as a new arbitrary waveform generator (AWG) with three highly synchronized channels for precision tuning of IQ waveforms and envelope tracking. The arbitrary waveform generator and oscilloscope provide up to 1 GHz bandwidth to support complex baseband IQ signal generation and analysis for the latest 5G and aerospace and defense broadband technology evaluation. The new products include an arbitrary waveform generator and digitizer, enabling engineers to build core functions of the instruments or insert custom algorithms onto the onboard FPGA. While approaching the maximum performance and speed of the FPGA, the graphical design environment makes it easy to add custom configurations required for emerging technology research and design. The M3300A arbitrary waveform generator and digitizer provide real-time sequencing and multi-channel/multi-module synchronization using the FPGA and PXI reference clock, and support advanced multi-channel applications such as multi-user beamforming technology and quantum computing.

European Patent Applications Surpass 200,000 for the First Time… South Korea Maintains 5th Place, Led by Batteries and Telecommunications
According to the European Patent Office (EPO)'s 'Technology Dashboard 2025', European patent applications last year reached 201,974, surpassing 200,000 for the first time. Korean companies and inventors filed 14,355 applications, representing a 9.5% increase from the previous year and maintaining 5th place by country. Battery, digital communication, and semiconductor technologies led the growth, with Samsung ranking as the top EPO applicant for the second consecutive year and LG reaching 3rd place. The presence of major domestic cities such as Seoul, Suwon, and Yongin was also confirmed. It was also revealed that Korea's European patent strategy is expanding beyond individual technologies to span the entire industry.

SK Telecom First Applies AI-Based Network Operations at Gwanghwamun K-Pop Concert
SK Telecom announced that it applied an AI-based network operation system for the first time at a large-scale K-pop concert held in the Gwanghwamun area of Seoul on March 21st, managing communication quality throughout the event. Mobile data usage during the three hours before and after the concert reached 12.15TB, approximately doubling compared to the same time slot the previous weekend. SK Telecom monitored traffic using the AI system 'A-One' in five-minute and 50-meter units to respond to potential overload situations, while also operating temporary communication facilities and on-site personnel in parallel. This case is interpreted as confirmation of the practical applicability of AI-based autonomous network operation in an environment where demand from dense events and foreign users increases simultaneously.
