Processor Scalability at Low Cost Entry Point

Xilinx announced that the Spartan®-7 FPGA product family is now available for order and shipment.

This device family, which is the cornerstone of Xilinx's cost-optimized portfolio, is designed to meet the needs of cost-sensitive markets by offering low cost and low power consumption. The I/O is optimized for connectivity with industry-leading performance per watt.

The Spartan-7 FPGA, offered in a small form factor package, provides a wide operating temperature range of -40°~+125°C in commercial devices. Additionally, the Spartan-7 product family utilizes Xilinx® 32-bit MicroBlaze™ soft processor IP to deliver enhanced processor scalability at a low cost entry point with 50% higher embedded performance than the previous generation. Furthermore, Spartan-7 devices provide a layered security solution that includes AES-256 bitstream decryption, SHA-256 bitstream authentication, and on-chip eFUSE key storage.

Designs based on Spartan FPGA deliver significantly greater productivity benefits to users through the Vivado® Design Suite. All Spartan-7 FPGAs are supported free of charge by Vivado HL Design and System Edition as well as Vivado® HL WebPACK™ Edition.
