LG Electronics Supplies Next-Generation ADAS Front Monocams to German Automakers

LG Electronics is supplying next-generation ADAS cameras to a German premium automaker.
LG Electronics recently succeeded in securing a contract to supply "next-generation ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) front mono cameras" from a German premium automaker. Through this agreement, LG Electronics will supply front mono camera modules and software to be installed in the manufacturer's next-generation models.
The ADAS front mono-camera collects traffic information from the front of the vehicle to detect various objects and enable safe driving. It performs emergency braking in the event of a collision risk, automatically maintains the lane, and keeps a constant distance from the vehicle ahead during long-distance driving. It also provides various advanced features, such as automatic traffic sign recognition and automatic high beam control.
ADAS front mono cameras are an essential foundational technology for developing components for autonomous vehicles, which are set to become a reality in the future. In particular, the ADAS front mono camera being supplied incorporates a wide range of camera and image recognition technologies accumulated by LG Electronics in the smartphone and home appliance sectors, resulting in a high-performance product with enhanced functionality and safety compared to existing models. With the success of this order, LG Electronics has been recognized for its top-tier automotive camera and software technology.

[Planning - Autonomous Vehicles ③] Camera, Lidar “Cars finally have eyes”
3단계 자율주행차 기술의 상용화가 시작되면서 첨단 주행 보조 시스템에 대한 관심도 높아지고 있다. ADAS 시스템은 자율주행차로 가기 위한 기반으로 초반에는 주로 알림을 통해 도로 위 상태를 알려주는 역할을 했지만 최근에는 스티어링 휠, 브레이크 등을 자동으로 컨트롤 하는 수준까지 이르렀다. 제네시스 EQ900에는 어드밴스드 스마트 크루즈 컨트롤(ASCC), 후측방 충돌 회피 지원 시스템(BSD), 긴급제동 시스템(AEB), 부주의 운전 경보 시스템(DAA), 스마트 하이빔(SHBA), 앞 좌석 프리 액티브 시트벨트 등의 첨단 주행 보조 시스템(ADAS)이 탑재되었다. 신형 i30 왜건에는 어댑티브 크루즈 컨트롤(ACC), AEB, 차선유지보조 시스템 등의 ADAS 기술이 들어갔다. 이와 같은 ADAS가 작동하기 위해서는 카메라, 라이다, 레이더 센서를 통한 감지가 중요하다. 상용차별로 ADAS 시스템 장착을 보면 소형 일부 차량을 제외하고 카메라 단독이거나 레이더와 스테레오 카메라를 적용했다. 전방 100m, 서라운드 뷰, 후방까지가 카메라가 커버할 수 있는 범위이다. 실제 눈으로 볼 수 있어 운전자에게 직관적으로 도움을 주는 역할을 한다. 자율주행이 되면 차 한대당 최소 5대 이상의 카메라 센서가 장착되어야 360도 풀 커버리지를 감지할 수 있다.

LG Electronics has been appointed Vice President of the Automotive Infotainment Software Standards Association.
LG전자가 IVI(In Vehicle Infotainment, 오디오?비디오?네비게이션 등 차량 내장용 인포테인먼트 기기) 분야 SW플랫폼 표준단체 ‘제니비 연합(GENIVI Alliance)’의 부회장사 지위에 올랐다. ‘제니비 연합’은 최근 영국 버밍햄 국제종합전시장(ICC)에서 열린 이사회에서 만장일치로 LG전자 VC스마트SW플랫폼담당 류경동상무를 부회장으로 선출했다. 동시에 초대 회장사인 BMW 인포테인먼트설계담당 피터 쉔넨버그(Peter Schonenberg)가 회장으로 복귀했다. ‘제니비 연합’의 집행임원은 회장, 부회장, 회계담당, 총무 단 4명[2]이다. ‘제니비 연합’은 오픈소스인 ‘리눅스(Linux)’ 기반 IVI용 SW플랫폼 표준인 ‘제니비 플랫폼’을 개발, IVI 생태계 활성화를 주도하고 있는비영리 단체다. 2009년 출범해 완성차 및 자동차 부품 기업 150여 개가 회원사로 활동 중이다. ‘제니비 플랫폼’은 BMW, 르노-닛산, 볼보, PSA푸조시트로엥, 현대기아자동차 등 여러 자동차업체의 IVI 제품에 적용되며 빠르게 확산되고 있다.
