[Automotive Video Coverage] Microchip Showcases Infotainment Solution Emphasizing Connectivity

Microchip, which participated in Automotive Innovation Day 2017 held on the 5th under the auspices of Automotive Electronics, unveiled USB hub and car infotainment application solutions.
The High Speed USB 2.0 hub serves to enable direct access to CarPlay. Standard USB communication operates on a host-and-slave basis. When iOS or Android enters the car infotainment, the smartphone itself becomes the host and the head unit becomes the device. In this case, since USB cannot connect host-to-host, the hub provides that function instead.
The INIC (Intelligent network Interface Controllers) product line can be customized according to in-vehicle applications for system, audio, and control purposes. Bidirectional communication is supported, and two adjacent devices can be connected with a single cable. Additionally, no return cable is required to connect the final node to the first node, reducing weight and system cost. It supports an electrical physical layer (ePHY) optimized for UTP copper wiring.

Microchip Launches Controller with Full-Duplex Communication Support
Microchip Technology announced the launch of its latest MOST150 Intelligent Network Interface Controller (INIC). The product enables automotive manufacturers and first-tier suppliers to integrate MOST® (Media Oriented Systems Transport) networks on a full-duplex coaxial physical layer with both ring topology and daisy-chain configurations. By using full-duplex daisy-chain networks, adjacent devices on the network can be connected with a single cable, thereby reducing the cables and connectors required for the reverse channel on each network.

Microchip Launches CAN Transceivers Including Automotive Grade 0 Products
Microchip Technology announced the launch of a CAN (Controller Area Network) transceiver product family that includes automotive Grade 0 products for the first time in the industry. The newly added ATA65XX product family to the CAN portfolio consists of six products in total. This new product family supports the recently announced CAN FD (Flexible Data-rate) protocol with maximum communication speeds of 5Mb/s and the CAN PN (Partial Networking) standard for improving energy efficiency in vehicles, fully complying with ISO 11898-2/5/6, 11898-2:2016, and SAE J2962-2. Additionally, this product family supports CAN PN transceivers including Window Watchdog and has received approval from major automotive manufacturers for operation without external CMC (Common Mode Choke).

[오토모티브 영상취재] 맥심, 케이블 수 줄이는 튜너 솔루션 공개
오토모티브 일렉트로닉스 주최로 지난 5일 열린, 오토모티브 이노베이션데이 2017에 참여한 맥심은 소프트웨어정의라디오(SDR) 솔루션을 소개했다. SDR은 기존의 안테나와 헤드유닛 간에 RF 신호가 아날로그 신호로 전달이 되는 것을 디지털로 변환하는 방식을 쓰고 있다. 이전의 방식은 RF 신호가 케이블을 따라가다보니 노이즈의 영향을 크게 받는다. 또, 케이블이 길어지면서 들어가는 비용이 늘어나게 된다. 맥심의 원격 튜너 솔루션은 헤드유닛 디자인을 간소화하고 필요한 케이블의 양을 줄여준다. 라디오 튜너는 안테나 근처에 있고 모든 튜너의 출력은 GMSL(Gigabit Multimedia Serial Link)을 사용해 단일 케이블에서 직렬화 된다. ‘max2175 RF to Bits’ 칩을 기반으로 아날로그 신호를 디지털로 변환하여 15~30m까지 장거리 전송이 가능하다.

Xilinx participated in the Automotive Innovation Day 2017 held on the 5th and introduced Xilinx's automotive solutions. Xilinx showcased reVISION, which features immediate system response speed and is suited for markets requiring rapid deployment of algorithms and sensors. The reVISION stack facilitates the development of intelligent vision-based systems including machine learning, computer vision, and sensor fusion. It supports the most commonly used neural networks such as AlexNet, GoogLeNet, SqueezeNet, SSD, and FCN.
