[Interview] STM32 10th Anniversary: Why Do Developers Keep Looking for This MCU?
The 32-bit microcontroller (MCU) STM32 has reached its 10th anniversary. While certain product lines have enjoyed long-standing popularity, it is uncommon for a product to be consistently selected by developers as trends and development environments change year after year. In common parlance, STM32 is an MCU that developers want to use "once, twice, and keep using," and it has received steady support from the industry over the past 10 years. Behind STM32's success lies the dedication of ST Korea, which has made tireless efforts to reflect developers' opinions without neglecting their feedback. We met with Choi Kyung-hwa, Director of ST Microelectronics Korea, who has overseen STM32's 10-year journey, and asked about the past decade and future plans. STM32 has now been on the market for 10 years. What was the situation like 10 years ago? I still vividly remember the day of STM32's launch event 10 years ago. At that time, customers' awareness of ARM Cortex M was not high. We had to promote the advantages of ARM Cortex M3 together with STM32.

ST Expands Applications with Next-Generation BLE Chips
STMicroelectronics (hereinafter ST) has unveiled BlueNRG-2, a next-generation Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) System-on-Chip (SoC). This new product will contribute to the proliferation of interconnected smart devices across diverse applications including home, retail, industrial, toys, gaming consoles, personal medical devices, and infrastructure. ST sees potential in Bluetooth Low Energy connectivity applications that are simple, feature-focused, and capable of operating for several months or even years on a single small battery. The new BlueNRG-2 chip can meet all these requirements through its ultra-low-power programmable processor and low-power features including ultra-low-power standby mode.

ST Launches USB Type-C Controller IC with Built-in Protection
STMicroelectronics (hereinafter ST) has launched two new USB Type-C™ certified port controller ICs with built-in protection features. These protection features support a cost-effective interface implementation that combines USB functions required during design. This includes support for power negotiation, active cable management, and guest protocol. USB Type-C enables the use of both sides of the plug and cable, allowing easy connection of various devices and power supply. Type-C connection integrates all USB function support including 480Mbps USB 2.0 and 10Gbps USB 3.1 data exchange, power supply ranging from 5V/0.5A to a maximum of 20V/5.0A, active cable management capable of extending connection distance, and alternate mode that allows the same cable to be used for guest protocols such as HDMI and DisplayPort.
