Samsung Electronics - K-Weather: Now check indoor air quality on your phone

Samsung Electronics is launching the 'AirGuard K Phone,' a smartphone specialized in indoor air management that helps maintain a comfortable environment by measuring air quality, in collaboration with weather information provider K-Weather.
The 'AirGuard K Phone' is equipped with a dedicated application that allows users to check ambient air conditions measured by the 'AirGuard K' indoor air quality sensor developed by CareWeather, and remotely control home appliances such as air conditioners or air purifiers depending on the situation.
'AirGuard K' precisely measures not only fine dust levels but also six factors closely related to air quality, such as temperature, humidity, noise, carbon dioxide, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
Through the dedicated application pre-installed on the 'AirGuard K Phone,' users can set the air purifier to operate automatically when fine dust or carbon dioxide levels are high, or check the temperature and humidity and easily control the air conditioner.
In addition, the 'AirGuard K Phone' is equipped with Samsung Electronics' proprietary enterprise-customized solution 'Knox Customization,' providing customized UIs such as the K-Weather wallpaper, weather widget, and three weather applications to further enhance customer convenience.
'AirGuard K-Phone' is a smartphone and It consists of the 'AirGuard K' indoor air quality monitor and will be released through SK Telecom in two models: the 'Galaxy Note Fan Edition' and the 2017 'Galaxy A5'.

삼성전자, 미래기술 육성하는 지원과제 21개 선정
삼성전자는 2017년도 미래기술육성센터가 지원하는 2017년도 지정테마 지원과제 총 21개를 선정해 발표했다. 삼성전자가 미래기술육성사업의 일환으로 2014년부터 시작한 ‘지정테마 과제공모’는 국가적으로 필요한 미래기술분야를 지정해 해당 분야의 연구를 지원하기 위해 실시하고 있다. 올해는 ▲ 차세대 반도체 재료와 소자 ▲ 스마트 머신(Smart Machine)을 위한 인텔리전스(Intelligence) 2개 분야가 선정됐다. 차세대 반도체 재료와 소자 분야에서는 반도체 집적화의 한계를 극복하기 위해 ‘비휘발성 로직을 위한 저온공정 하프니아 강유전체 터널정션’을 구현하는 과제(고려대학교 세종캠퍼스 전상훈 교수) 등 12건이 선정됐고, 인텔리전스 분야에서는 딥러닝 학습과 추론을 향상시키기 위한 메모리 중심의 가속기 아키텍쳐’ 과제(포스텍 유민수 교수) 등 9건이 선정됐다.

삼성전자, 게이밍 특화 노트북 라인업 확대
삼성전자가 그래픽 처리속도와 배터리 용량을 늘린 게이밍 특화 노트북 ‘오디세이(Odyssey)’의 고성능 모델을 출시한다. 삼성 노트북 오디세이 고성능 모델은 엔비디아 지포스(NVIDIA GeForce) GTX 1060 그래픽카드를 탑재해 그래픽 처리 속도가 기존 모델 대비 30% 빨라 졌으며, 배터리 용량도 기존 모델 43Wh 대비 약 53 % 늘어난 66Wh 대용량 배터리를 적용했다. 또한 최신 7세대 인텔 코어i 프로세서, PCIe SSD 256GB와 2,400MHz속도의 DDR4 8GB(또는 16GB) 메모리를 탑재해 어떤 게임이라도 최적의 환경으로 즐길 수 있다.
