Cisco Announces Next-Generation Server for Effective Data Center Operations

Cisco Korea (CEO Cho Beom-gu) has announced new products and software for its next-generation server 'Cisco UCS (Cisco Unified Computing System)' featuring enhanced integrated computing performance and simplified operations.
The newly launched fifth-generation Cisco UCS M5 server embodies Cisco's vision of 'simplicity', 'enhanced application performance', and 'strategic and forward-looking architecture'. By providing enhanced integrated computing performance and new systems and software that increase simplicity, it enables data-intensive workloads, applications at the edge, and next-generation distributed application architectures.
Hwang Seung-hee, Executive Director of Cisco Korea, stated, "In a situation where enterprises are trying to gain competitive advantages more rapidly through real-time analytics and swift decision-making, a paradigm shift in data center infrastructure is very important. Cisco's distinctive integrated system architecture provides the agility required in on-premise cloud environments, and the new UCS server reduces complexity, enabling customers to bring applications to market faster and conduct business operations with greater flexibility."
The Cisco UCS M5 server equipped with Intel Xeon Scalable processors can handle more workloads with memory capacity up to twice as high as existing systems. Performance has improved by 86% compared to existing UCS servers, and performance for data-intensive workloads such as real-time analytics and in-memory computing has also increased significantly.
With the launch of 'Cisco UCS Director 6.5' and the addition of 'Cisco Workload Optimization Manager', customers can employ a multi-cloud strategy that enables them to maintain superior performance while increasing the efficiency of on-premise IT. Through UCS Director 6.5, data center professionals can complete 80% of operational tasks from a single console. Automation capabilities are further expanded by automating PowerShell functions, virtual machine mobility in vCenter data centers, and VMware VMRC console support. FlexPod and Cisco HyperFlex automation capabilities have been enhanced, and support for UCS M5 series and UCS S series servers has been added.

Dell EMC Launches 14th Gen PowerEdge, 'The Cornerstone of Data Centers' in Korea
Dell EMC has launched the 14th generation Dell EMC PowerEdge server product line. The Dell EMC PowerEdge server is equipped with Intel Xeon Scalable processors. This will be deployed not only in servers but also in various Dell EMC products including storage and hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI). With a scalable architecture, it handles diverse workloads of software-defined data centers (SDDC). Intel Provides Security and Agility with 'Xeon Processors'
We have entered an era where data from artificial intelligence to data from numerous IoT terminals are being connected to the cloud. Intel, which has played a pivotal role in the cloud market moving toward hybrid forms regardless of public or private, has unveiled its next-generation processor products. Intel Korea held a launch event for the 'Xeon Scalable processor' on the 17th at the Conrad Hotel in Yeouido. Nam Seung-joo, executive vice president of Intel Data Center Group Korea Sales, stated, "The new mesh architecture core addresses the efficiency degradation that occurred in the existing ring architecture as core counts increased, and improves transmission speed. European Patent Applications Surpass 200,000 for the First Time… South Korea Maintains 5th Place, Led by Batteries and Telecommunications
According to the European Patent Office (EPO)'s 'Technology Dashboard 2025', European patent applications last year reached 201,974, surpassing 200,000 for the first time. Korean companies and inventors filed 14,355 applications, representing a 9.5% increase from the previous year and maintaining 5th place by country. Battery, digital communication, and semiconductor technologies led the growth, with Samsung ranking as the top EPO applicant for the second consecutive year and LG reaching 3rd place. The presence of major domestic cities such as Seoul, Suwon, and Yongin was also confirmed. It was also revealed that Korea's European patent strategy is expanding beyond individual technologies to span the entire industry.

SK Telecom First Applies AI-Based Network Operations at Gwanghwamun K-Pop Concert
SK Telecom announced that it applied an AI-based network operation system for the first time at a large-scale K-pop concert held in the Gwanghwamun area of Seoul on March 21st, managing communication quality throughout the event. Mobile data usage during the three hours before and after the concert reached 12.15TB, approximately doubling compared to the same time slot the previous weekend. SK Telecom monitored traffic using the AI system 'A-One' in five-minute and 50-meter units to respond to potential overload situations, while also operating temporary communication facilities and on-site personnel in parallel. This case is interpreted as confirmation of the practical applicability of AI-based autonomous network operation in an environment where demand from dense events and foreign users increases simultaneously.
