Samsung Electronics 'Starts' Eco-friendly Processing of Galaxy Note 7 Components

Samsung Electronics is beginning the resource regeneration and recycling of the recovered Galaxy Note 7 for eco-friendly disposal.
Samsung Electronics is launching the 'Galaxy Note FE,' which minimizes resource waste by utilizing unopened Galaxy Note 7 products and unused parts, and will begin resource recovery and recycling of the remaining collected products starting this month.
Samsung Electronics has decided to first separate and recycle key reusable components, such as OLED display modules, memory semiconductors, and camera modules, through an eco-friendly processing method; some will be utilized as service materials, while the remaining components will be sold.
In addition, it is estimated that about 157 tons of gold, silver, cobalt, and copper will be recovered through this regeneration/recycling process in addition to the parts, and plans to utilize these major minerals are also being actively pursued.
Samsung Electronics plans to process this in cooperation with domestic and international companies specializing in the extraction and recycling of electronic components.
Samsung Electronics’ policy on the regeneration and recycling of Galaxy Note 7 components and resources reveals a concrete plan for the eco-friendly disposal of the Note 7, which domestic and international environmental groups have been demanding. It is expected to contribute significantly to the reduction of industrial waste, as well as the protection of the global environment and resource recycling, through the eco-friendly circular processing of electronic components.
Samsung Electronics plans to continue expanding eco-friendly methods for the production of new products as well as the collection and disposal of aging products, while actively taking steps to lead the entire industry in the fields of environmental protection and resource recycling.

Samsung Electronics Holds Workshop to Improve Environmental Safety
Samsung Electronics held a "Supplier Environmental Safety Workshop" to enhance environmental and safety awareness, with approximately 200 representatives of primary and secondary suppliers and some 400 environmental and safety managers in attendance at the SME Support Center located in Gwangyeokdo. The workshop served as a venue to share Samsung Electronics suppliers' environmental and safety improvement status and best practices, and to discuss future improvement directions with suppliers.
