Infineon Launches New OptiMOS Linear FET Series
Published2017.08.09 10:28Infineon Technologies has launched the OptiMOS Linear FET series. The new product family combines the excellent on-state resistance (RDS(on)) of trench MOSFETs with the wide safe operating area (SOA) of planar MOSFETs, resolving the trade-off between RDS(on) and linear mode functionality.
OptiMOS Linear FET can operate in the saturation region of enhancement-mode MOSFETs. The OptiMOS Linear FET series is suitable for hot-swap, e-fuse, and protection applications commonly used in telecommunications and battery management systems (BMS).
The device's robust linear mode operation and high pulse current achieve low conduction losses and faster startup while reducing downtime. OptiMOS Linear FET limits high inrush current in the event of a short circuit, preventing potential damage to the load.
OptiMOS Linear FET is currently available in 100V, 150V, and 200V voltage ratings in D2PAK or D2PAK 7-pin packages. These industry-standard packages are footprint-compatible, enabling drop-in replacement.

Infineon Sponsors Intelligent Model Car Competition
Infineon Technologies officially sponsors the Intelligent Model Car Competition organized by Hanyang University's Future Automotive Research Institute and Department of Future Automotive Engineering. The 2017 Intelligent Model Car Competition will be held on the 13th (Thursday) at Hanyang University's Olympic Gymnasium, with participation from approximately 50 universities nationwide, 100 teams, and over 450 university students. Infineon Launches IGBT Module with Improved Current Rating
Infineon Technologies has released the EconoPIM 3 IGBT module with current rating improved by 50 percent from 100A to 150A. This power module meets the increasing demand for power density while maintaining the same footprint. Infineon Launches High-Performance MEMS Microphone with 70dB Signal-to-Noise Ratio
Infineon Technologies announced its entry into the packaged silicon microphone market to meet the demand for high-performance, low-noise MEMS microphones. Infineon's analog and digital microphones, which apply dual backplate MEMS technology, deliver a differentiated signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of 70dB. Additionally, at 135dB sound pressure level (SPL), distortion is extremely low at 10%. The microphone, offered in a 4mm x 3mm x 1.2mm MEMS package, is suitable for applications such as high-quality audio recording and far-field voice capture. Dr. Roland Helm, head of the sensor division at Infineon's Power Management and Multimarket business unit, stated, "By collaborating with packaging partners, we have been able to expand our high-volume bare die MEMS and ASIC business model. Infineon will continue to focus on the bare die business, and now we are able to meet the demand for low-noise, high-end products with two packaged microphone offerings."
