Emerson unveiled its Plantweb digital ecosystem, tailored for the IIoT, last year.
Expectations are high for the Korean market, which has great potential in manufacturing, oil and gas, refining, and petrochemicals.

Pervasive Sensing
Pervasive Sensing is the most fundamental level of PlantWeb: sensing. Sensors installed within unit process facilities easily monitor information and supply essential energy, forming the foundation for increased energy efficiency. The sensed data is connected to a cloud-based Secure First Mile , leveraging the industrial machine-to-machine communication protocol OPC UA and Microsoft Azure. Physical security is enhanced with data diodes that ensure one-way transmission between OT systems and devices.

PlantWeb Insight
Data collected from across the plant is analyzed through the web-based PlantWeb Insights, which can be accessed from any device with a web browser. Emerson plans to support 12 applications each quarter, focusing on reliability, safety, productivity, energy, and leak management. The three applications released to date are steam trap monitoring, pump monitoring, and pressure gauge monitoring.

Steam Trap Insight remotely monitors steam traps in difficult-to-reach locations, eliminating manual inspections and reducing energy waste. Pump Insight provides visual information to staff through condition monitoring to diagnose problems leading to aging and failure. This predictive monitoring allows customers to proactively correct errors and improve efficiency.

PlantWeb Advisor
PlantWeb Advisor consists of a condition advisor that continuously monitors critical assets to identify potential problems, a performance advisor that tracks the operational efficiency of plant equipment, and an energy advisor that displays and manages the plant's air consumption in real time.
Condition Advisor provides proactive warnings of unplanned shutdowns and slowdowns, increasing reliability, process effectiveness, and reducing safety and environmental risks. This information allows plant personnel to take corrective action and prevent production losses, costly reactive maintenance, and potential environmental or safety incidents.

These plant webs can be monitored and accessed regardless of the worker's location through Always Mobile .

AMS Asset View, an application connected to the platform, offers personalized views that allow staff to focus on management by viewing only the alerts they need to address at the appropriate time. The DeltaV Mobile application allows process engineers, operators, and plant managers to view lists according to their preferences and receive real-time alarm notifications.
