KT announced on the 17th that 'KT Secure Vault,' an enterprise security program that applies 'White Box Cryptography' technology for the first time in Korea, has obtained international Common Criteria (CC) certification.

'KT SecureVault' is an enterprise security program that automatically encrypts files on users' PCs and controls access based on user permissions. Users of KT SecureVault can choose whether to encrypt files according to their security level, and since white-box encryption technology is applied to secured files, companies can safely manage files without worrying about hacking.

White-box encryption is a software security technology in which the encryption key does not remain in memory. KT Secure Vault features a user-friendly UI, allowing users to easily encrypt any file simply by placing the files requiring security into the V Drive.

Furthermore, while existing encryption technologies inevitably left users feeling insecure because service providers could technically decrypt them, 'KT Secure Vault' enhanced user trust by designing a structure where only the user can view encrypted files and even the service provider cannot see the contents.

Meanwhile, in addition to the newly certified white-box encryption function, KT has developed and added a backup feature to KT Secure Vault that detects the behavior of 'ransomware,' which has caused significant damage to businesses worldwide, immediately blocks the uploading of infected files, and enables complete restoration to the original state. Ransomware refers to malicious software that infiltrates a network, locks systems or encrypts data to render it unusable, and then demands money as ransom.

KT SecureVault plans to introduce a pilot service within this year that supports Windows, iOS, Android, and MacOSX by applying it to various KT enterprise products such as 'GiGA Office' and 'LTE Notebook'.

Hong Kyung-pyo, Director of the Convergence Research Institute at KT's Convergence Technology Institute, stated, "Through the international CC certification of KT SecureVault, we have proven the competitiveness of KT's security technology," adding, "We will continue to develop innovative security technologies that are more user-centric, convenient, and stable."
