Bixby Voice Now Available Worldwide
Published2017.08.22 15:31Samsung Electronics is expanding its Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ 'Bixby Voice' service to over 200 countries worldwide.
'Bixby Voice' launched its Korean service in Korea last May, and has been providing English service in the United States since July 19.
In particular, the 'shortcut command' function has the advantage of allowing you to perform a variety of complex tasks with a single voice command. For example, users can save three tasks, such as changing the Do Not Disturb mode, setting an alarm for 6 a.m., and using a blue light filter, as a command called 'Good night' and use them whenever needed.
Samsung Electronics Wireless Business Division Vice President Lee In-jong said, “This expansion of Bixby Voice service areas will lay the foundation for Bixby to learn from more mobile devices, and will serve as an opportunity to evolve to provide more specialized, customized services to each user in the future.”
Meanwhile, the Korean version of 'Bixby Voice' has been used by over 1.3 million people to date, and has performed over 250 million cumulative voice commands.
The intelligent interface 'Bixby' allows users to use their smartphones freely by switching between voice, touch, and text input methods depending on their situation, and applications that support 'Bixby Voice' can use voice for most tasks that can be done by touch.

Looking at Japan's Gate Box, it wakes users up in the morning with tone and emotion similar to humans. It greets the user first and searches for weather information in advance. And on the way to work, it proactively says things like "bring an umbrella." The emotional intelligence of AI can make users engage with such services more frequently and feel a sense similar to interacting with a real person. Additionally, within certain limitations, it becomes possible for the AI to search for and inform users of morning weather information without being commanded, or to introduce new products at shopping malls in advance. In the future, artificial intelligence could also develop in the form of being raised, similar to 'Tamagotchi.' Depending on how the user cares for it from the egg stage, the hatched organism differs, and its personality varies depending on how it is raised. DigiEco states, "Most scientists believe that strong artificial intelligence will emerge within 50 or 100 years. While artificial intelligence reaching science fiction movie levels may be a distant future, strong artificial intelligence services to be introduced through smartphones are technically feasible and are expected to be realized in the near future."
