LG V30 to be unveiled in Berlin, Germany on the 31st, showcasing the essence of 'OLED FullVision' design

LG Electronics unveiled its next strategic premium smartphone, the 'LG V30' (pronounced Thirty in English), in Berlin, Germany on the 31st (local time).

The LG V30 further develops the strengths of the LG V series, which has showcased new mobile experiences and top-tier multimedia capabilities. It sets a new standard for the evolution of premium smartphones with features such as: ▲ a next-generation dual camera featuring the smartphone's first F1.6 Crystal Clear Lens and 120° low-distortion wide-angle lens; ▲ a 'Cine Video' mode that allows anyone to shoot cinematic videos; ▲ an 'OLED FullVision' display with a thin and light minimalist design; ▲ premium sound combining a Hi-Fi Quad DAC with tuning by B&O Play; and ▲ easy and convenient features like Korean Google Assistant, voice unlock, and LG Pay.

LG Electronics unveiled the LG V30 at the Maritim Hotel in downtown Berlin, one day before the opening of 'IFA 2017', one of the world's top three IT exhibitions, with the eyes of the world focused on it. The public event, attended by over 700 IT officials including domestic and international media and mobile operators, was broadcast live worldwide via social media platforms such as Facebook and YouTube.

The LG V30 introduces the highest level of video recording capabilities that lead the video era, featuring a next-generation dual camera that is brighter and clearer with the first smartphone F1.6 aperture and glass lens, and a Cine Video mode that allows anyone to shoot cinematic videos.

The standard lens of the LG V30's dual camera achieves the brightest aperture value of F1.6 among existing smartphones, allowing for accurate light exposure not only in photos but also when shooting videos, which are more sensitive to brightness. Glass lenses, which have a higher visible light transmittance than conventional plastic lenses and enable more accurate color reproduction and realistic texture expression, are primarily used in high-end cameras such as DSLRs.

The newly added 'Cine Video' mode on the LG V30 offers the joy of feeling like a film director at every moment of shooting, featuring 'Cine Effect,' which allows you to capture high-quality video with the authentic feel of movies of various genres, and 'Point Zoom,' which lets you zoom in and out on desired points just like in a movie.

The LG V30 has further upgraded the wide-angle of its dual camera, which has been well-received for its high utility when taking expansive landscape photos or group shots. The LG V30's 120° low-distortion wide-angle camera applies proprietary lens design technology, significantly improving edge distortion to one-third the level of its predecessor, the LG V20, enabling more realistic wide-angle shooting.

'OLED FullVision' with a larger screen and smaller size

The LG V30 has achieved a high-quality design that is extremely thin while increasing the screen size. It features a FullVision design that fills the entire front of the device with an OLED panel that does not require a backlight.

The LG V30 overcomes the prejudice that large-screen phones for the second half of the year are "big and heavy" through advanced design and technology, achieving a slim thickness of 7.3mm and a light weight of 158g. Featuring an 18:9 aspect ratio "OLED FullVision," the LG V30 boasts a 6-inch screen larger than its predecessor, yet its dimensions have been reduced by approximately 3mm in width and 8mm in height, providing a comfortable grip that fits perfectly in the hand. The tempered glass covering the device features smooth curves along all edges from front to back, creating a sleek and seamless design. The LG logo is positioned on the back, completing an extreme minimalist design that leaves nothing on the front other than the screen.

In addition, the LG V30's 'OLED FullVision' delivers vivid high-definition image quality with QHD+ (2880 x 1440) resolution. You can enjoy deeper and more vivid images with outstanding contrast ratio, and it also supports the HDR10 standard so that you can enjoy various video content featuring HDR (High Dynamic Range), a picture quality technology that maximizes contrast differences.

Equipped with further advanced high-quality sound and easy and convenient features

The LG V30 has further improved the high-quality sound, a unique strength of LG Electronics' premium smartphones.

LG Electronics has equipped the LG V30 with a Hi-Fi Quad DAC (Digital To Analog) and delivers overwhelming premium sound by adding attractive tonal tuning through collaboration with the renowned audio brand B&O PLAY. It also includes bundled earphones designed and tuned by B&O PLAY and features the B&O PLAY logo on the back of the product, adding a sense of pride in its premium sound.

The 'Sound Preset' feature allows you to select four representative timbres most preferred by music experts and enjoy them according to your taste. The 'Digital Filter' allows you to select a sound optimized for the genre of music by increasing or decreasing the reverberation, which is the echo of sound.

The LG V30 is equipped with various convenience features so that anyone can easily and conveniently use the best professional-grade functions.

LG Electronics and Google introduced the Google Assistant Korean service for the first time through the LG V30. This allows domestic users to more conveniently utilize their smartphones as their personal assistants through Korean conversation.

Through close collaboration with Google, LG Electronics has added specialized commands to Google Assistant that are exclusive to the LG V30. For example, if you command, “Shoot like a romantic movie,” the LG V30’s 'Cine Video' mode automatically activates, allowing you to immediately capture romantic movie-style footage. The wide-angle camera, one of the signature features of LG’s premium smartphones, can also be controlled via Google Assistant using commands such as, “Take a selfie with the wide angle.”
