Jeon Hong-beom, Head of KT's Infrastructure Research Institute, delivers a keynote speech at 'ITU Telecom World 2017'
In the keynote speech, a vision for the evolution of intelligent networks converging artificial intelligence and 5G was presented.

KT announced in a keynote speech at 'ITU Telecom World 2017,' the world's largest information and communications forum hosted by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) at BEXCO in Busan on the 25th that the evolution into an 'intelligent network' through the convergence of artificial intelligence and 5G is the key to leading the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Jeon Hong-beom, Head of KT Infrastructure Research Institute, announced KT's AI-based telecommunications network technology and conveyed a vision for realizing the 5G era to the international community during his keynote speech at the 'AI, Telcos & Intelligent Network' session.

'ITU Telecom World' is the world's largest information and communications exhibition and global forum organized by the ITU, held annually in various countries around the world. This year's event, held at BEXCO in Busan, was larger in scale than before, with the participation of over 60 ministers, vice ministers, and telecommunications operators from around the world, and the operation of 269 exhibition booths from 50 countries.



Director Jeon Hong-beom said, “KT is implementing intelligence in various fields by utilizing artificial intelligence technology,” adding, “We must implement an intelligent network where artificial intelligence and 5G technology are converged so that it can become the driving force of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.” In addition, he stated, “To achieve this, international standardization and successful commercialization of 5G technology must be achieved,” and announced, “KT will be the first in the world to introduce an advanced artificial intelligence era based on 5G infrastructure.”

Meanwhile, at the 'ITU CTO Advisory Meeting' held on the 24th, KT proposed standard requirements for telecommunication operators for the international standardization of intelligent networks, and an ITU declaration reflecting these requirements was adopted. Moving forward, the ITU will prioritize this declaration when discussing the direction of standardization. KT announced that it will continue to participate in the international standardization of intelligent networks to reflect the position of telecommunication operators and lead the international standardization of intelligent networks.

In addition, KT's Senior Vice President of Network Strategy, Lee Yong-kyu, will attend the 'TDD Spectrum and 5G Technology Workshop' on the 25th and the '1st Korea-China IoV International Conference' on the 26th as a speaker to deliver speeches on the topics of 'KT's Roadmap to bring 5G into reality' and 'KT's Strategy on 5G-V2X,' respectively, and exchange opinions with global telecommunications companies and manufacturers regarding the future direction of 5G development.
