Samsung Unveils Mixed Reality Headset 'Odyssey'

Samsung Electronics unveiled the premium mixed reality (MR) headset 'Samsung HMD Odyssey' in collaboration with Microsoft.
The Samsung HMD Odyssey provides users with a new experience as a PC that supports the new Windows 10 OS, which will be updated in October.
It is equipped with two 3.5-inch AMOLED displays that support the industry's highest resolution and offers a 110-degree viewing angle, allowing you to vividly enjoy games or 360-degree video content.
In particular, Harman's premium audio brand, AKG headphones, enhanced the immersive experience. The built-in microphone supports real-time communication through voice chat applications.
Unlike existing HMDs, the Samsung HMD Odyssey can be used immediately simply by connecting it to a PC without the need for a complex installation process, and allows for easy and convenient game control by linking it with a 6 Degrees of Freedom (6 DOF) motion controller.
In addition, the 'Samsung HMD Odyssey' features an ergonomic design that ensures comfort even during prolonged use, and allows users to customize it to their individual field of vision by adjusting the Inter-Pupillary Distance (IPD) wheel.
Choi Young-kyu, Executive Vice President of Samsung Electronics’ PC Business Team, stated, “Samsung Electronics is striving to provide unique value and experiences to consumers’ lives through meaningful innovation,” adding, “The ‘Samsung HMD Odyssey,’ equipped with top-tier specifications, will lead consumers to a higher level of mixed reality experience.”
The 'Samsung HMD Odyssey' is scheduled to be released sequentially starting in early November in Korea, the United States, China, Brazil, Hong Kong, and other regions.

Korea Virtual Reality Launches High-Definition VR Rendering Program Supporting HMDs
Industrial VR specialist Korea Virtual Reality (CEO Jang Ho-hyun) announced the launch of VR rendering program 'KOVI High Render (KHR)'. KOVI High Render (hereinafter KHR) is a VR rendering program that enables real-time rendering of spaces designed with 'KOVI Archi', a VR interior design program offered through KOVI Online in a SaaS (Software as a Service) model, allowing users to navigate through the space like in a game. VR: A New Growth Engine: Finding Leaders
The Ministry of Science and ICT held the 'VR Award' ceremony on September 20th at Nuri Dream Square in Sangam, Seoul, to recognize individuals and teams that achieved outstanding results in the Grand Challenge initiative aimed at discovering content developers and companies to lead the virtual reality (VR) industry, a new growth engine of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The Grand Challenge, now in its second year following last year's inaugural event, consisted of a student division and a general division. The EDPI-VR team's 'Body Adventure' won the Minister's Award in the student division, while the Circus Company team's 'Magic AR Box' won the Minister's Award in the general division. To enhance the completeness of submitted content, the Ministry of Science and ICT provided a three-month pre-development period. Multiple companies including Lotte World, 3D Factory, and Sconec participated as mentors, providing support for devices such as HMD (Head Mounted Display), infrastructure like servers, and technical coaching. Additionally, the ministry provided development space within Nuri Dream Square to ensure smooth development for the participants.

ESP32 Development Environment Selection and GPS Application Implementation
The ESP32 is a microcontroller that integrates Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 12-bit ADC, capacitive touch, PWM, DAC, and UART in a single SoC. However, the abundance of features does not by itself solve the designer's problems. The real challenges lie in selecting the appropriate development environment, determining which pins can be used and which must be avoided, and converting raw data from modules into usable information.
