Enhanced convenience by applying 45nm embedded flash to security IC products

Samsung Electronics unveiled a security solution for the Internet of Things (IoT) that combines software and hardware.

IoT-related services enhance user convenience in various ways through the connection of cloud servers, hubs, and individual devices, but security technology to prevent this is important because the system can be exposed to significant risks if even one of the connected devices is hacked.

Samsung Electronics’ security solution is a turnkey solution that encompasses hardware security ICs and software. It safely protects data stored within the IC by stopping operation and resetting the security IC as soon as it detects a hacking attempt.

In addition, Samsung Electronics has enhanced performance and convenience by applying '45nm embedded flash (eFlash)' to its 'security IC' products.

Embedded flash is an internal memory that improves upon the shortcomings of the EEPROM method, which makes software modification difficult. It offers the advantages of allowing customers developing IoT products to freely install and modify necessary software, as well as fast data processing speeds.

In addition, Samsung Electronics provides proprietary software optimized for the security IC to support various functions such as personal authentication, security key/certificate storage, and encryption/decryption, enabling the secure exchange of security keys and certificates between devices or between devices and servers/clouds.
