Integration of voice recognition-based AI devices with a home IoT platform

LG Uplus, Daewoo E&C, and Naver, the number one internet portal in Korea, are building an AI IoT apartment together.

LG Uplus announced that it signed a business agreement at the Daewoo E&C headquarters in Jongno-gu, Seoul, attended by top executives from affiliates including Vice Chairman Kwon Young-soo, Daewoo E&C CEO Song Moon-sun, and Naver CEO Han Sung-sook, and agreed to cooperate in building AI IoT smart homes.

Under this agreement, LG Uplus plans to build a home IoT platform in Prugio apartments and supply AI devices to build AI apartments, while Naver plans to provide an AI platform along with content linked to it.

AI IoT apartments connect voice recognition-based AI devices to a home IoT platform built within each unit, enabling easy access to home network systems—such as heating, cooling, lighting/gas control, unmanned parcel delivery, energy usage monitoring, and parking management—as well as individually purchased IoT appliances like air conditioners, robot vacuums, air purifiers, rice cookers, and humidifiers, and LG U+ home IoT services including plugs, power strips, blinds, and air quality sensors, all through voice commands.

For example, if you say “Turn on the bathroom light,” it turns on the bathroom light and at the same time says “Switching the boiler to hot water mode” and recommends a water supply suitable for the weather of the day. Also, if you say “Call the elevator,” it calls the elevator and tells you the last parking location, and recommends operating home appliances that suit your usual lifestyle by asking, “Shall I run the robot vacuum 10 minutes after you go out?”

Based on differentiated services such as customized wall pads for construction companies, we have signed business agreements with over 30 construction companies and 8 home network companies, the largest number in Korea, and are rapidly expanding home IoT infrastructure in the housing construction market. We are leading the domestic home IoT market as the number one operator by securing 930,000 subscriber households.
