Sales increased by 15.4%, operating profit by 12.7%

Samsung SDS announced through a preliminary earnings disclosure that it recorded 2.3089 trillion won in revenue and 192.3 billion won in operating profit for the third quarter.

Compared to the third quarter of last year, sales increased by 15.4% and operating profit by 12.7%.

Sales revenue continued to grow year-on-year for both IT services and logistics BPO, and operating profit was driven particularly by the IT services sector, including solutions.

Revenue in the IT services sector for the third quarter was 1.2757 trillion won, a 12.8% increase compared to the same period last year, and operating profit recorded 181.3 billion won, a whopping 54.6% increase.

The company explained that the expansion of the solution business, the streamlining of outsourcing operations, and the strengthening of development capabilities were the key factors.

The logistics BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) division also saw its revenue increase by 18.7% from 870.7 billion won in the third quarter of last year to 1.0333 trillion won, driven by the expansion of sales logistics in the European region and the promotion of overseas business.

Typically, when looking at the past three years, sales in the third quarter tend to decrease compared to the second quarter due to seasonal factors; however, this year, despite a slight 2.7% decrease in sales compared to the previous quarter, operating profit increased by 3.5%.

A company official stated, “When looking at the company’s performance on a quarterly basis, it has maintained a continuous growth trend,” and predicted that “this growth trend will continue in the future.”
