SK Telecom announced that it held the first AI latest paper research group 'TT.OC' (Tech. Open Connect · T-Talk), where authors directly give lectures and hold discussions based on AI-related papers published in Korea that have been accepted by global-level academic conferences.

At 'TT.OC', held for the first time on this day at the SK Telecom T Tower SUPEX Hall in Euljiro, Seoul, Lee Ki-min (KAIST Ph.D. student, 'Confident Multiple Choice Learning') and Kim Ju-yong (Seoul National University Master's student, 'Deep Learning Lightweighting: Splitnet: Learning to Semantically Split Deep Networks for Parameter Reduction and Model Parallelization'), whose research papers were accepted by the world's top AI conferences such as ICML, participated as presenters.

Although an average of over 150 AI-related papers are published worldwide every day, only about 2,000 papers are accepted annually by the world's top artificial intelligence conferences. Of these, the proportion of papers published in Korea is less than 5%.

SK Telecom held an AI symposium in late September to foster an open and sharing ecosystem among AI experts, and based on the demand from these AI experts, it launched a follow-up program, the AI Latest Paper Research Group.

'TT.OC' plans to select the latest and major papers in the AI field about once a month, invite the authors, and provide early learning opportunities for the latest AI source technologies to everyone from researchers at domestic companies to undergraduate students at universities.

Yoon Hyun, Head of Competency Planning at SK Telecom, stated, “With our AI research workforce and scale lagging behind advanced nations, we are losing even the few AI talents we have to global companies.” He added, “Through TT.OC, I hope that even competitors can come together to grasp and research the latest AI technologies, thereby creating a new ‘cooperation model.’”
