Smart Wall Pads and Door Locks Serving as Network Hubs

Samsung SDS is rolling out smart wall pads and door locks that serve as hub devices in home networks by applying IoT (Internet of Things) technology.

Samsung SDS, which recently unveiled successive artificial intelligence platforms including data analytics AI and conversational AI, is now taking active steps in the IoT sector, another key axis of the fourth industrial revolution.

The company is pursuing commercialization based on Brightics IoT, its proprietary IoT platform that systematically collects, stores, and manages data generated from numerous sensors and devices.

A prime example is the home IoT business that connects with various appliances in the home and utilizes diverse information collected from them.

The newly introduced smart wall pad (model: SHP-HA400) is characterized by being based on the Brightics IoT platform and significantly enhancing security features such as data collection and external hacking prevention.

It operates in conjunction with various sensors from gas valves, lighting switches, and energy-saving devices, as well as Wi-Fi-enabled Samsung smart appliances (air purifiers, robot vacuums, air conditioners, etc.), allowing users to conveniently use home IoT services via smartphone from anywhere inside or outside the home.

Particularly by incorporating the IoT platform, consumers no longer need to purchase or rent control equipment other than the smart wall pad, enabling installation and use regardless of residential type such as apartments, multi-family houses, villas, and detached homes.

Features have been added such as viewing a visitor's face through preview video and having a conversation when a visitor rings the doorbell, as well as a safe arrival function that allows pre-monitoring of hallways and entrances via smartphone upon arriving home. Notable is also the thoughtful feature that works in conjunction with smart door locks to issue temporary keys that allow access to housekeepers or tutors only during specific times.

Additionally, Samsung SDS plans to soon introduce a smart door lock (model: SHP-DS700) with a compact circular design that enhances safety and convenience through smartphone integration.

Jae-phil Kim, Executive Vice President and Head of Samsung SDS's Home IoT Business Division, stated, "Based on verified IoT technology, customers can now use safe home IoT services without incurring additional costs," and added, "We are also expanding our business not only domestically but in the fast-growing Chinese market."
