Winner of innovation awards in home appliances, mobile, and semiconductor sectors

Samsung Electronics won a total of 36 "CES Innovation Honoree" awards, including two "Best of Innovation" awards, ahead of "CES 2018" to be held in Las Vegas, USA, next January.

The Consumer Technology Association (CTA) announced the winners of the 'CES Innovation Awards' across 28 categories on the 9th (local time).

In particular, new Samsung TV products and Family Hub refrigerators to be unveiled at CES 2018 each won the 'Best Innovation Award' in their respective product categories. Including these products, products in TV (7), home appliances (7), mobile (12), semiconductors (5), PC peripherals (2), audio (2), and smart home (1) received 'Innovation Awards'.

With this, Samsung Electronics has achieved the feat of winning the 'Best Innovation Award' in the TV sector for seven consecutive years, and in the home appliance sector as well, the Family Hub refrigerator won the 'Best Innovation Award' this time, marking the company's third consecutive year of receiving the 'Innovation Award'.

In the home appliance sector, innovation awards were won for various products, including not only refrigerators but also washing machines and cooking appliances. In particular, 'Family Hub' won not only the 'Best Innovation Award' but also the Innovation Award in the Smart Home category.

The new 'Quick Drive' drum washing machine, first unveiled at 'IFA 2017' in Berlin last September, also received a 'CES Innovation Award'. 'Quick Drive' not only dramatically reduces washing time but also features the 'Q-Rator' function, which incorporates AI technology, allowing for even more efficient and convenient laundry washing.

Four Chef Collection cooking appliances also swept awards in the home appliance sector, receiving recognition for their built-in product technology. The 'Chef Collection Wall Oven,' which adds a steam function to Flex Duo technology that allows for efficient use of the cooking space by dividing it into two, the 'Chef Collection Gas Cooktop,' which enhances the flavor of ingredients with powerful heat (22K BTU), the 'Chef Collection Professional Range,' which combines a gas cooktop and a large-capacity oven, and the 'Chef Collection Combi Oven,' which combines a microwave and an oven to enable everything from simple cooking to authentic dishes, were included in the list of winners.

Winners in 12 categories including 'Galaxy Note 8' and 'Gear Fit 2 Pro'

In the mobile sector, it won innovation awards in 12 categories, including smartphones and wearable devices.

The smartphones that won were the 'Galaxy Note 8,' which features an 'S Pen' that enhances convenience and practicality and a dual camera equipped with dual optical image stabilization (OIS) technology, and the 'Galaxy S8' and 'Galaxy S8+,' which feature a completely new smartphone design with an Infinity Display.

Wearable devices that won awards include: the 'Gear Sport' smartwatch, certified with a 5ATM water resistance rating according to the ISO 22810:2010 standard; the 'Gear Fit2 Pro' GPS fitness band; the 'Gear IconX (2018)', a second-generation cord-free earphone; the 'Samsung HMD Odyssey', a premium mixed reality headset that seamlessly connects the virtual and real worlds to provide users with a new experience; and the 'Samsung Connect Home Pro', a hub and Wi-Fi router that connects SmartThings products.

In the PC peripherals sector, the world's largest 49-inch CHG90 QL, released last SeptemberA new 34-inch QLED monitor equipped with Thunderbolt 3, a next-generation interface capable of simultaneously transmitting power, video, and sound signals through a single cable, has won a CES Innovation Award.

In the semiconductor sector, a total of five products, including three memory products and two system LSI products, won innovation awards.

Memory products that won awards include the 8TB NGSFF NVMe SSD 'PM983', which achieves maximum capacity in a small form factor, the 10nm-class '16Gb GDDR6 graphics DRAM', which doubles the speed compared to existing products, and the 256GB microSD card 'EVO Plus'.

In particular, the 'PM983' SSD is a 'maximum capacity, ultra-high speed, and ultra-compact' solution that can provide double the capacity in the same space as a server using an existing '2.5-inch SSD,' offering optimal investment efficiency when building large-scale data centers.

In addition, the system semiconductor also won awards for the latest mobile AP Exynos 9 Series 9810, equipped with the industry's first 6CA (Carrier Aggregation) LTE modem and a 3rd generation custom CPU, and the 24-megapixel image sensor 'ISOCELL Slim 2X7', which features 4-pixel rearrangement Tetracell technology to deliver the best image quality depending on the environment.

Samsung Electronics plans to set up a large exhibition hall at the Las Vegas Convention Center, where CES 2018 will be held from January 9 to 12 next year, and unveil innovative technologies and products, including the award-winning products.
