Dell EMC Launches New HCI Product Powered by 14th Generation PowerEdge Servers
Published2017.12.07 10:49Dell EMC is expected to maintain its position as the industry leader by introducing an even more powerful Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI) portfolio. Dell EMC, which dominates both the global HCI and x86 server markets, has combined the latest technologies in each field to launch new HCI products, 'VxRail' and the 'XC Series,' equipped with the latest 14th generation 'PowerEdge' servers.
HCI is a product that integrates storage, server, and virtualization solutions into a single appliance, and it is gaining attention as a modern data center infrastructure designed to simplify IT infrastructure and respond agilely to changing environments. According to an IDC report 1) , HCI is the fastest-growing converged infrastructure recently, with global revenue for HCI increasing by 48.5% year-over-year in the second quarter.
According to IDC, Dell EMC recorded 149% revenue growth in the second quarter of this year compared to the same period last year, leading the global HCI market with a 29% market share. Among Dell EMC's HCI product lines, VxRail saw revenue surge by 275% year-over-year, growing 5.7 times faster than the overall market and securing a large number of new clients. In particular, Dell EMC has established itself as an absolute leader in the domestic HCI market, with its market share approaching 54.7%.
The new VxRail and XC series models introduced by Dell EMC not only deliver outstanding performance based on the latest PowerEdge servers but also enable flexible customization for mission-critical applications. The 14th generation PowerEdge servers featured in the new HCI product family are powered by Intel Xeon Scalable processors and incorporate 150 customizable features for Software Defined Storage (SDS). These include enhanced SSD support for scale-out configurations, fast initialization, simplified storage management, and drive cooling capabilities.
Dell EMC’s HCI, equipped with the latest PowerEdge servers, delivers up to 1.7 times more processing power thanks to an increased number of cores, faster clock speeds, and more memory channels. Internal bandwidth has also improved by 62%, enabling faster access to applications and data. Furthermore, enhanced automation features simplify the entire lifecycle—from deployment and management to scaling and maintenance—and increase convenience.

Dell EMC Launches New 14th Generation PowerEdge Product Family
Dell EMC has launched the second product line of Dell EMC PowerEdge servers, which were first introduced in July. The new product line consists of next-generation PowerEdge servers equipped with Intel Xeon Scalable processors and is composed of servers in various form factors. Through this, Dell EMC has now established a server portfolio that addresses all workloads including virtualization, HPC (high-performance computing), big data analytics, private cloud, and Software-Defined Storage, enabling the company to efficiently support enterprises' digital transformation initiatives.

Databricks Unveils Open AI Security Monitoring 'Lakewatch'
Databricks entered the security market on March 24 by unveiling LakeWatch, an open-source agentic SIEM. The core functionality of this product is to integrate and analyze security, IT, and business data in a single environment to support AI-based threat detection and investigation. The company explained that it reduces the limitations of existing security operations centers, which have had to forgo some data due to high cost structures, and enables large-scale data analysis and automation based on open formats and ecosystems. LakeWatch is currently offered as a private preview, with Adobe and Dropbox mentioned as early customers. Databricks also announced an expanded partnership with Anthropic as well as the acquisition of Antimatter and SiftD.ai.
