Samsung Electronics, have you seen the Star Wars vacuum cleaner?
Published2017.12.19 10:10Samsung Electronics held an experience event for the 'Powerbot & Powergun Star Wars Edition' at 'Megabox Hanam Starfield' in Hanam, Gyeonggi-do.
The 'Powerbot Star Wars Edition' robot vacuum cleaner, created through a collaboration between Samsung Electronics and Star Wars production company Lucasfilm, captures the design of the movie characters with specially made covers and colors, and provides entertainment to users by playing the characters' voices and movie music whenever it operates.
This event, held to coincide with the opening weekend of the movie 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi', featured an experience zone where visitors could personally check the powerful suction of 'Star Wars Edition' robot vacuums and cordless vacuums, as well as a photo zone where they could take commemorative photos with characters from the movie, and included activities such as an instant roulette and an Instagram photo event.
In particular, 10 'Powerbot Star Wars Editions' captivated the attention of Star Wars fans visiting the movie theater by performing a synchronized dance to Star Wars background music.
Samsung Electronics Executive Vice President Yoon Koo said, “We have prepared an event where consumers can experience the fun elements and powerful performance of the product so that they can enjoy cleaning like a game.”
In addition to its design featuring movie characters and fun elements, Samsung’s robot vacuum cleaner ‘Powerbot Star Wars Edition’ retains the key features of the Powerbot VR7000 model, which won an innovation award at CES 2017, including ‘Cyclone Force’ which sucks up dust with powerful suction, ‘Edge Clean Master’ which enables clean cleaning even on hard-to-reach walls and edges, ‘Navigation Camera’ which automatically identifies the layout of the user’s home to find the fastest cleaning method, and ‘FullView Sensor 2.0’ which recognizes obstacles as thin as about 1cm.
Samsung’s cordless vacuum cleaner, the ‘Power Gun Star Wars Edition,’ is characterized by a design that captures the feel of the laser gun used by the movie character ‘Stormtrooper,’ and boasts excellent cleaning efficiency equipped with a powerful 150W suction power, a ‘Flex Handle’ with an ergonomic design that bends up to 50 degrees to minimize strain on the wrist or back, and a ‘Dual Action Brush’ that rotates 5,000 times per minute in both directions.

Samsung Electronics' QLED gaming monitor receives HDR certification from VESA.
삼성전자의 QLED 게이밍 모니터 CHG90과 CHG70이 영상전자표준위원회(Video Electronics Standards Association, 이하 VESA)로부터 HDR 디스플레이 표준 인증을 받았다. HDR(High Dynamic Range)은 영상과 사진의 밝은 부분은 더 밝게, 어두운 부분은 더 어둡게 명암을 최적화해 보다 생생하고 자연스럽게 보여 주는 고화질 기술이다. TV와 달리 PC모니터·노트북 디스플레이의 HDR 성능에 대한 기준 규격이 없었으나, VESA가 이달 11일 해당 제품군을 테스트 하고 3가지 등급(DisplayHDR 400·600·1000)을 부여하는 표준 규격 인증 프로그램을 업계에 내놨다.
