KT Launches PyeongChang Winter Olympics Navigation App 'Go PyeongChang'

KT announced the launch of 'Go PyeongChang,' an application designed to help anyone easily and quickly find stadiums and various Olympic facilities.
'Go PyeongChang,' developed by KT and the Organizing Committee for the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games, displays all stadiums on the main screen, allowing users to search for routes with just a touch without entering a destination, and also allows destinations to be entered by scanning an Olympic ticket QR code.
'Go Pyeongchang' presents travel options, including distance, mode of transportation, estimated time, and cost, and provides a navigation function to the destination. Additionally, it is linked with various apps for booking intercity and express buses as well as KTX trains, allowing users to reserve mobile tickets based on the searched route. You can also connect to car-sharing apps and check information on the Olympic shuttle buses operating during the competition.
In addition, 'Go Pyeongchang' is available in four languages (Korean, English, Japanese, and Chinese) for foreign users.
In the future, 'Go PyeongChang' will also be installed in a PC version at 29 transportation desks providing traffic information during the PyeongChang Winter Olympics, so that all visitors can easily use 'Go PyeongChang' through monitors.
Meanwhile, 'Go Pyeongchang' is available simultaneously for Android and iOS, and can be downloaded by searching for 'Go Pyeongchang' on the Google Play Store or iOS App Store.
Kim Hyung-joon, Executive Vice President and Head of KT's PyeongChang Winter Olympics Promotion Team, stated, "KT developed the 'Go PyeongChang' app so that visitors from around the world can easily and conveniently enjoy the PyeongChang Winter Olympics." He added, "In addition to 'Go PyeongChang,' KT plans to promote the excellence of Korea's ICT to the world through various technologies, including the world's first 5G being showcased in PyeongChang and Olympic IPTV, which provides real-time subtitles in six languages."

KT Participates in Military Tactical Information and Communications System Deployment
KT는 군 전술정보통신체계(Tactical Information Communication Network, 이하 TICN) 구축사업에 참여해 이동기지국용 무선망 설계툴을 군에 적용했다고 밝혔다. TICN은 기존 아날로그 방식의 다원화된 군 통신망을 디지털 방식으로 일원화하고, 다양한 정보의 실시간 전달을 통해 지휘통제와 의사 결정을 지원하는 정보통신체계이다.

SK Telecom First Applies AI-Based Network Operations at Gwanghwamun K-Pop Concert
SK텔레콤이 3월 21일 서울 광화문 일대에서 열린 대형 K-팝 공연에 AI 기반 네트워크 운영 시스템을 처음 적용해 통신 품질을 관리했다고 밝혔다. 공연 전후 3시간 동안 모바일 데이터 사용량은 12.15TB로 직전 주말 같은 시간대보다 약 2배 늘었다. SK텔레콤은 AI 시스템 ‘A-One’을 활용해 5분 단위, 50m 단위로 트래픽을 감시하며 과부하 가능성에 대응했고, 임시 통신 시설과 현장 인력 운영도 병행했다. 밀집 행사와 외국인 이용 수요가 동시에 늘어나는 환경에서 AI 기반 자율 네트워크 운영의 현장 적용 가능성을 확인한 사례로 해석된다.
