Teradata Korea announced a collaboration with Cisco on digital transformation solutions for smart cities and communities. Building on the capabilities of Cisco's IoT platform, Cisco Kinetic for Cities, and the Teradata Analytics Platform, the solution will enhance connectivity between cities for integrated data exchange.

The Cisco Kinetic for City platform is ideal for securely collecting, integrating, and standardizing real-time data from city networks. Teradata is one of the enterprise data analytics companies integrating with this platform, providing data management, including analytics that provide business insights to cities and communities, and continuous data lifecycle management and enrichment. Together, these two companies provide the tools needed to improve city efficiency, enhance public safety, deliver citizen services, and generate new revenue streams.

A city's data collection and management is often decentralized, stored in silos across departments, with each city manager creating a data "cockpit" and a set of tools for specific city facilities. This approach complicates a citywide view of data. Therefore, to gain comprehensive insights, each data silo must be integrated. Only then can the data be effectively used to support predictive and prescriptive decision-making for a range of city services, including lighting, parking, transportation, waste management, citizen engagement, safety, and security.

Cisco Kinetic for Cities enables cities to collect, integrate, and standardize information from disparate, siloed city applications, including but not limited to traffic, lighting, and parking. Teradata provides prescriptive and predictive analytics, as well as easy-to-understand visualizations, empowering city managers to make informed, effective decisions. This integrated solution can be used, for example, to automatically detect and alert on security incidents, identify traffic bottlenecks, optimize signaling to alleviate congestion, or review route options to improve emergency vehicle response times.
