Samsung Electronics is expanding its foundry solutions using 8-inch (200mm) wafers to strengthen customer support.

Samsung Electronics plans to expand its range of 8-inch foundry service products from the existing four to six and provide specialized fine process solutions for each product ranging from 180 nanometers to 65 nanometers to improve the completeness and convenience of its customers' products.

With this, Samsung Electronics now offers a total of six specialized 8-inch foundry solutions by adding RF/IoT and fingerprint sensors to the four solutions of embedded flash memory (eFlash), power management integrated circuits (PMIC), display driver ICs (DDI), and CMOS image sensors (CIS).

Lee Sang-hyun, Senior Vice President and Head of Marketing at Samsung Electronics' Foundry Business, stated, "We have expanded our 8-inch solutions to enable more customers to utilize Samsung Electronics' differentiated solutions," adding, "We will strengthen customer-centric services through high-quality process technology, MPW programs that satisfy diverse requirements, and the provision of IP (design assets)."

Samsung Electronics operates an 8-inch line at Line 6 of its Giheung campus and provides foundry services for a diverse range of products through years of accumulated production know-how and automation systems.

Since its launch in May 2017, Samsung Electronics’ Foundry business has been holding foundry forums in the U.S., Europe, Japan, and other regions to introduce its cutting-edge advanced process roadmap and 8-inch foundry business to global customers.
