'Green KT' Acquires International Standard Certification for Environmental Management

KT announced that it has obtained ISO 14001 certification, an international standard for environmental management systems, from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in the fields of 'smart energy business' and 'IDC operations'.
'ISO 14001' is considered the most important certification among the 'International Standards for Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14000) Series' established by the International Organization for Standardization. This certification evaluates items such as the presence or absence of environmental impact by each business sector of a company over the course of a year, efforts to reduce such impact, and compliance with regulations.
KT has objectively proven that it is a company possessing advanced eco-friendly IT technology by obtaining certifications in the smart energy business sector, including energy efficiency and renewable energy businesses, which are among its core future businesses.
Following the 'Green IDC' certification from the Korea IT Service Industry Association in 2013, KT IDC received ISO 14001 certification. This demonstrates that KT's IDC operations minimize the environmental impact and provide services safely.
KT Vice President and Head of Public Relations Yoon Jong-jin said, “ISO 14001 certification is an objective indicator showing that KT is effectively and systematically implementing eco-friendly management.” “Going forward, KT will strive to expand the areas in which it can receive ISO 14001 certification to provide eco-friendly services to customers in their daily lives. Through this, we will realize ‘Green KT’ and further lead ‘Green Korea,’” the company stated.

누구보다 빠른 KT의 5G 상용화 전략은?
KT는 5G 성과 발표 및 상용화 전략 기자간담회를 통해 2018 평창 동계올림픽과 패럴림픽에서 사용한 5G 기술과 미래 전략에 관해 발표했다. 오성목 KT 네트워크부문장은 “KT는 모바일 월드 콩그레스(MWC)에서 2018년 올림픽에서 세계 최초 5G 시범서비스를 선보이겠다고 공표한 후 조기 5G 상용화를 위해 여러 기술과 서비스 개발에 힘썼다고” 말했다. KT는 이번 올림픽에서 싱크뷰, 타임 슬라이스, 옴니뷰 등의 5G 기반의 기술을 피겨 스케이팅과 쇼트트랙, 스키 등의 종목에 적용했다. 이를 통해 공중도약이나 결승 골 등의 주요 장면을 캐치한 입체 영상이나 360도 각도의 경기 장면을 관중과 시청자에게 전했다. 봅슬레이에서 상위 10개 팀에 장착된 싱크뷰의 경우는 미국 NBC에서도 사용했다. 또한, KT 5G 커넥티드 버스에 정부와 언론사, 통신사 CEO 등 3,000여 명이 탑승했다.

KT and Seoul Metro to Fully Launch 'Green Subway'
KT는 서울교통공사와 그린 서브웨이를 위한 실증사업 설비구축을 완료하고, 본격 가동을 시작한다고 밝혔다. 지난해 12월, KT와 서울교통공사는 ‘안전하고 깨끗한 그린 서브웨이 실증사업과 미래 대중교통기술 공동 연구를 위해 전략적 업무협약(MOU)’을 체결했다. KT와 서울교통공사는 2개월 걸쳐 지하철 5호선 주요 역사에 공기질 관리 서비스, 지능형 CCTV, 여성 화장실 안전 시스템, 에너지 사용량 분석 시스템 등을 구축했다. 우선 광화문, 왕십리, 장한평 3개 역에는 공기질을 실시간 관리할 수 있는 KT의 공기질 관리 솔루션(GiGA IoT Air Map)을 적용했다.

European Patent Applications Surpass 200,000 for the First Time… South Korea Maintains 5th Place, Led by Batteries and Telecommunications
According to the European Patent Office (EPO)'s 'Technology Dashboard 2025', European patent applications last year reached 201,974, surpassing 200,000 for the first time. Korean companies and inventors filed 14,355 applications, representing a 9.5% increase from the previous year and maintaining 5th place by country. Battery, digital communication, and semiconductor technologies led the growth, with Samsung ranking as the top EPO applicant for the second consecutive year and LG reaching 3rd place. The presence of major domestic cities such as Seoul, Suwon, and Yongin was also confirmed. It was also revealed that Korea's European patent strategy is expanding beyond individual technologies to span the entire industry.

SK Telecom First Applies AI-Based Network Operations at Gwanghwamun K-Pop Concert
SK텔레콤이 3월 21일 서울 광화문 일대에서 열린 대형 K-팝 공연에 AI 기반 네트워크 운영 시스템을 처음 적용해 통신 품질을 관리했다고 밝혔다. 공연 전후 3시간 동안 모바일 데이터 사용량은 12.15TB로 직전 주말 같은 시간대보다 약 2배 늘었다. SK텔레콤은 AI 시스템 ‘A-One’을 활용해 5분 단위, 50m 단위로 트래픽을 감시하며 과부하 가능성에 대응했고, 임시 통신 시설과 현장 인력 운영도 병행했다. 밀집 행사와 외국인 이용 수요가 동시에 늘어나는 환경에서 AI 기반 자율 네트워크 운영의 현장 적용 가능성을 확인한 사례로 해석된다.
