Proposal for Energy Saving Projects for Energy-High Consumption Workplaces and Aging Buildings

KT and Siemens Korea signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for joint cooperation on 'ICT-based energy efficiency projects.'

Through this MOU, the two companies agreed to cooperate on: sharing business opportunities and sales coordination to revitalize the domestic energy market; technology and joint commercialization based on the KT-MEG platform; expanding the market introduction of Siemens Korea's energy solutions (Navigator, Demand Flow, etc.); and jointly discovering new energy businesses.

Siemens Korea focuses on the Total Building Solution (TBS) sector, including heating, cooling, and air conditioning facilities, and has secured solutions capable of optimizing energy costs and improving stability for approximately 5,000 buildings and social infrastructure facilities both domestically and internationally. In addition, KT has developed the world's first integrated energy management platform, 'KT-MEG,' and is currently providing integrated control over energy production, consumption, and trading for about 12,000 locations.

KT and Siemens Korea have agreed to share their respective energy solutions and technological capabilities to improve the energy consumption environment or jointly identify new business opportunities. For example, we plan to propose projects such as applying Siemens Korea's high-efficiency energy saving solutions to energy-intensive workplaces currently under integrated management by KT, or jointly with Siemens Korea to reduce energy costs for aging buildings.

Kim Young-myung, Executive Vice President and Head of KT’s Smart Energy Business Group, stated, “Through the business agreement between KT and Siemens Korea, we expect synergy effects that transcend existing business areas between the two companies. By actively sharing KT’s platforms, technologies, and sales capabilities, we will lead a new paradigm in the energy efficiency business sector.”

Christoph Aebischer, Vice President of Siemens Korea’s Building Automation Business Unit, stated, “The mere fact that we can utilize KT’s powerful energy platform, the KT-MEG platform, makes this a very good cooperation model, and we believe it will be an opportunity to provide new value to customers by applying our know-how in energy solutions.”
