KT Challenges You to Develop GiGA Genie AI Services
Published2018.04.26 10:51KT announced that it will launch the "GiGA Genie Dev-Challenge," a competition for developing new GiGA Genie services utilizing artificial intelligence technology (AI Kits), starting May 1st.
This competition focuses on developing creative new GiGA Genie services that can bring convenience and enjoyment to daily life. The competition is targeted at individuals or teams with Web App development capabilities and will run for 10 weeks in a total of 3 rounds from May 1st to July 10th.
Registration applications can be submitted from May 1st to 23rd by downloading the proposal template from the GiGA Genie Developer Portal (gigagenie.ai), completing it, and submitting it via email (gigagenie@kt.com). Twenty teams will be selected by evaluating commercialization potential, planning creativity, and technical capabilities as new GiGA Genie services.
The 20 teams advancing to Round 2 will be provided with testable GiGA Genie terminals, development support funds of 1 million won, and a three-month free usage benefit for KT cloud web servers. Additionally, they can receive development mentoring and consulting from expert researchers at KT AI Tech Center. The researchers will serve as mentors for the submission of new GiGA Genie service development results.
Five teams will be selected for the final round, and the final rankings will be determined at the GiGA Genie Conference scheduled for July 10th. The winning team in the grand prize category will be awarded 30 million won, the runner-up will receive 20 million won, and the third prize will receive 10 million won. Additionally, the five finalist teams will be given priority review for "Biz Collaboration," a joint business promotion support program between KT Group and the Gyeonggi Creative Economy Innovation Center.
If the final round award-winning project from this competition proceeds to joint commercialization with KT through the "Biz Collaboration" program, support of up to 70 million won can be received for purposes such as research and development for commercialization, prototype manufacturing, patent application, and market development. If awarded the grand prize, including the prize money, support totaling up to 100 million won will be provided.
Kim Jin-han, Director of KT AI Tech Center, stated, "We plan to conduct the competition with expert researchers experienced in practical AI service development participating as mentors to freely discuss with participants," and added, "We anticipate creative and practical AI services that will emerge through the GiGA Genie Dev-Challenge."

KT-Green Car “Development of AI Car Sharing Service”
KT, which secured 700,000 subscribers within 1 year and 2 months of launching 'Giga Genie', is now integrating AI technology into car-sharing services. Users will be able to make car-sharing reservations through Giga Genie by the first half of this year at the earliest. KT announced that it has signed a 'Business Agreement for Artificial Intelligence Car-Sharing Service Cooperation' with Green Car. KT's AI Business Division Head Kim Chae-hee and Green Car CEO Kim Jwa-il attended the agreement signing ceremony along with officials from both companies. Going forward, the two companies will pursue ▲providing Green Car search and reservation services through Giga Genie ▲jointly developing customer-customized car-sharing services ▲marketing cooperation. The Green Car search and reservation service through Giga Genie is scheduled to launch in the first half of this year, with the goal of developing innovative service models that combine telecommunications and car-sharing. KT's 'Giga Genie', which recently surpassed 700,000 subscribers, provides not only voice but also audiovisual information simultaneously. It has the advantage of allowing convenient access to various information such as shopping, education, finance, and information search, making it possible to expand services into diverse sectors.

KT announced the launch of 'Yanadoo English Service' on its AI speaker Giga Genie. The service consists of 127 lectures that provide appropriate sentences for various situations. Each lecture is structured to run 1-3 minutes per session, making it convenient to use during commute preparation time, spare moments, or when studying basic English. The service covers 12 categories including travel, food, transportation, and airports, and is conducted by popular instructors from Yanadoo. When you say 'Play Yanadoo English' to Giga Genie, you can listen to different Yanadoo English conversation lectures in audio format daily, and you can also view the English sentences from the lecture content on the TV screen. In addition to listening to lectures, if you want to know English expressions used in specific situations, you can select a topic and then specify a particular situation such as 'expressions used on an airplane' or 'expressions to use when feeling upset' to view them separately.
