KT DS Achieves GS Certification Grade 1 for SW Performance Monitoring Solution
Published2018.05.03 16:36KT DS, an IT service specialist within the KT Group, announced that its application performance monitoring system, 'OBICs Watch APM,' has obtained Grade 1 in the GS certification assessment conducted by the Korea Information and Communications Technology Association (TTA).
GS certification is a national certification system that proves the quality of domestic software, and it grants certification only to products that meet a certain level of technical capability, usability, and reliability based on ISO international standards.
Software that passes certification receives benefits such as signing third-party unit price contracts with the Public Procurement Service, registration on the KONEPS, and designation as priority purchase software by government ministries.
'OBICs Watch APM,' which recently obtained certification, is a system that monitors whether a company's IT systems are operating stably. It is a solution that analyzes system performance and service data processing flow to quickly identify and respond to problems.
While existing APM solutions take a long time for operators to recognize problems due to performance issues when there are many service calls, KT DS APM provides stable monitoring information to operators by compressing and streamlining data using patented 'Block Masking' technology.
In addition, OBICs Watch APM has the advantage of being developed based on the open source capabilities that KT DS has accumulated over the years, allowing for distribution and sales at a reasonable price.
KT DS is already like KT's GiGA GenieOBICs Watch APM has been installed on approximately 500 servers of 40 representative services, and a performance monitoring system has been established and is in use that allows for comprehensive verification of performance and service information through an integrated dashboard.
Moon Sang-ryong, Executive Vice President of the Emerging Tech Division at KT DS, who is in charge of new technology business, said, “OBICs Watch APM is the result of KT DS’s technological capabilities and innovative ideas, and we hope that it will spread to many other companies to help establish a stable enterprise-wide IT monitoring system and reduce costs.”

KT to Establish 'Drone Patrol City' with Hwaseong City
KT and Hwaseong City announced that they have signed a "Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for establishing a control system for safe commute home using drones and surveillance of crime-prone areas" at the main building of Hwaseong City Hall. The event was attended by Chae In-seok, Mayor of Hwaseong City, and Ahn Sang-geun, Head of KT's Seoul Metropolitan and Gangnam Customer Division, among other officials from both sides. At the event, KT demonstrated its drone control solution in the presence of Mayor Chae and other officials. A drone equipped with warning lights took off and then converted to fixed-wing configuration at the 100-meter point to capture blind spots, transmitted low-speed (20Km/h) video to the ground, and subsequently moved at high speed (70Km/h) while transmitting high-definition video seamlessly to ground control operators. All video transmission was conducted through KT's LTE network, which provides the highest level of stability and coverage.

KT Hosts 'LTE Drone Racing' Competition
KT demonstrated the world's first racing drone equipped with an LTE module at Suwon KT Wiz Park and successfully held the 'KT 5G Drone Racing League' competition, the company announced. The LTE drone racing showcase was conducted as part of the '5G-based Immersive Future Service Demonstration Project' that KT has been pursuing since 2017 in collaboration with the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Giga Korea Business Division. KT's first racing drone equipped with an LTE module delivers First Person View (FPV) video that the pilot sees through the LTE network rather than the conventional low-frequency radio frequency method. This enables pilots to compete in racing with high-definition video where screen dropout issues, which had been problematic, are minimized.

Databricks Unveils Open AI Security Monitoring 'Lakewatch'
Databricks entered the security market on March 24 by unveiling LakeWatch, an open-source agentic SIEM. The core functionality of this product is to integrate and analyze security, IT, and business data in a single environment to support AI-based threat detection and investigation. The company explained that it reduces the limitations of existing security operations centers, which have had to forgo some data due to high cost structures, and enables large-scale data analysis and automation based on open formats and ecosystems. LakeWatch is currently offered as a private preview, with Adobe and Dropbox mentioned as early customers. Databricks also announced an expanded partnership with Anthropic as well as the acquisition of Antimatter and SiftD.ai.
