Dell Technologies World 2018 Announces New Products and Partnerships

Dell EMC announced new products and partnerships to help businesses leverage AI and machine learning at the Dell Technologies World 2018 conference in Las Vegas, USA.

This announcement includes a new 4-socket server from Dell EMC, a leader in the x86 server market, a new Ready Solution introduced to the market through strengthened collaboration with Intel, and Dell's workstation solution that optimizes performance based on machine learning.

Dell Technologies' new products, launching in May, are expected to accelerate the popularization of AI and machine learning, enabling businesses to deliver better products, services, solutions, and experiences based on data. The new products announced this time include two new 4-socket 14th-generation Dell EMC PowerEdge servers optimized for mission-critical workloads such as machine learning, as well as Dell EMC Ready Solutions, which accelerate digital transformation and significantly reduce total cost of ownership (TCO) through collaboration with partners. Also introduced is the new Dell Precision Optimizer 5.0 solution, which leverages artificial intelligence to enhance the performance and productivity of Dell Precision workstations.

The PowerEdge R940xa server is designed to accelerate databases for mission-critical applications without the cost and security risks of the cloud, helping you drive better business outcomes faster with data. Up to four CPUs and four NVIDIA Tesla V100 GPUs in a 1:1 ratio enhance application performance, while direct-attached NVMe (Non-Volatile Memory Express) drives reduce latency. The R940xa achieved record-breaking performance in SAP's standard application benchmark tests.

The PowerEdge R840 is a server designed for in-memory database analytics, minimizing latency with more direct-attached NVMe drives than other competitors and accelerating data transfers with fully integrated Ultra-Path Interconnect (UPI).

Unlike other 4-socket products, Dell EMC's new PowerEdge server supports FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array), includes 'OpenManage Enterprise' for monitoring and managing IT infrastructure, and 'iDRAC' for remote server access and efficient, automated management.

Meanwhile, Dell EMC also unveiled PowerMax, a high-end storage system equipped with a machine learning engine, during Dell Technologies 2018. PowerMax, the fastest storage system ever, utilizes predictive analytics and pattern recognition to analyze and forecast 40 million data sets per array in real time, making 6 billion decisions per day to automatically maximize efficiency and performance.

Dell EMC HPC Ready Solution is a comprehensive hardware platform and software solution for high-performance computing (HPC). Based on the PowerEdge R740 server, which combines Intel Xeon Scalable processors and Intel custom FPGAs, it delivers faster installation and performance. Dell EMC will also participate in the Intel AI Builder program, a partner ecosystem for enterprise technology, to develop high-quality solutions for Intel AI products. Dell EMC and Intel have partnered to enable companies to benchmark deep learning and HPC workloads based on Intel Xeon Scalable processors and Intel FPGAs at the Dell EMC Innovation Lab and Dell EMC Customer Solution Centers.

Dell, a leader in the workstation market, unveiled its new 'Dell Precision Optimizer 5.0' software at the Dell Technologies 2018 event, which utilizes AI to automatically manage applications running on 'Dell Precision Workstations' and maximize performance.

Dell Precision Optimizer is a customized optimization solution that leverages machine learning models trained on data learned from application-specific patterns. It automatically adjusts the system to optimized settings, improving application performance by up to 394%, helping customers optimize standard ISV applications or custom executables. Additionally, when you activate the workstation and run supporting applications, the software automatically adjusts the system configuration, including CPU, memory, storage, and graphics. This allows users to quickly enjoy improved workstation performance when switching between applications and projects, from CAD design to high-fidelity visualization of designs.

Meanwhile, the Dell Technologies World 2018 conference, held in Las Vegas, USA, brought together over 14,000 IT leaders and stakeholders from around the world under the slogan "Make It Real" to share their vision for the digital future.
