KT DS, an IT service company of KT Group, has signed a business agreement with UiPath, a Robotic Process Automation (RPA) solution provider, and is entering the RPA market in earnest.

RPA is a software robot that mimics human work processes. By automatically performing tasks according to a set sequence, it reduces simple, repetitive work and minimizes associated human error.

Since the beginning of this year, KT DS has introduced RPA to system monitoring and settlement tasks that require early arrival and night work to comply with the 52-hour workweek system, leading to reduced working hours and improved stability. In fact, tasks that previously required employees to arrive at 7 a.m. to check systems have been automated, allowing them to report to work on time. Additionally, the company achieved results in various fields, such as reducing the time required for KT's settlement verification tasks—which previously required two employees to work for more than two weeks—to within three hours by introducing RPA.

RPA, which reduces employees' repetitive tasks and allows them to focus on high-value-added work, can be an effective solution for the establishment of the '52-hour workweek,' which is currently the biggest issue in our society. KT DS is expanding its application not only to business within the KT Group but also to external markets, including the financial sector.

Moon Sang-ryong, Executive Vice President of KT DS’s Emerging Tech Division, stated, “By combining RPA technology with new technologies such as AI and blockchain that we possess, we are expanding into the realm of IPA (Intelligent Process Automation), where RPA can be applied not only to simple repetitive tasks but also to tasks requiring human judgment,” adding, “We will create a work environment where employees can focus on more valuable work.”
