SK Telecom focused on highlighting examples where IoT data linked with AI, blockchain, media, autonomous driving, and finance is innovating real life.

'T-View Smart Intrusion Detection,' utilizing video analysis technology and sensors, goes beyond conventional CCTVs to significantly enhance security levels by recognizing people with their faces covered by hats or large umbrellas, and even distinguishing between animals and mannequins. In addition, technology was unveiled in which the AI camera recognizes pre-registered individuals or predicts a person's age and gender.

At this exhibition, SK Telecom unveiled its blockchain-based mobile ID, which is currently being prepared for commercialization. Positioned as a mobile ID for all citizens, this service is utilized for paperless contracts, streamlining non-face-to-face processes, credential-based access control, and integrated online and offline logins. At the exhibition booth, visitors were able to personally experience the process of conveniently signing paperless contracts using the mobile ID integrated into their smartphones.

In addition, the "Home to Car" demonstration recently unveiled by SK Telecom in collaboration with Hyundai-Kia Motors also drew attention. Visitors at COEX were able to experience the process of starting a vehicle in Songdo, Incheon, and ordering and receiving Starbucks coffee via "T Map x Nugu."

It was also possible to view the situation at the Songdo site in high-definition video through SK Telecom's high-definition real-time video monitoring technology, 'T Live Caster'.

In addition, they exhibited a "Digital Chronic Disease Platform" that allows medical staff to monitor the condition of patients with chronic diseases such as diabetes and hypertension in real time, and an "Infectious Disease Diagnostic System" that enables precise real-time diagnosis of infectious diseases by combining point-of-care testing (POCT) with IoT communication networks.

SK Telecom has also prepared a space where visitors can experience IoT solutions applied to industrial sites through advanced media technologies such as AR and VR. Participants were able to view the 'Cogeneration System and Factory Energy Management System (FEMS) Facility' built at Hyundai Motor's Ulsan plant and the IoT livestock management service 'LiveCare' developed in collaboration with the small and medium-sized enterprise Ulike Korea, respectively, through 360 VR and AR videos.

Heo Il-kyu, Head of the IoT/Data Business Division at SK Telecom, stated, “We will continue to introduce services that bring useful changes to real life.”

Tour of Major Company Booths; LG Uplus

LG Uplus showcased over 50 types of currently offered IoT services through three experience spaces consisting of home, city, and industry. A key feature was the presentation of services combining not only IoT but also AI and 5G through the convergence of underlying technologies. Participants were able to experience various services implementing Home IoT, IIoT, and Smart Cities on-site.

Notable aspects of the LG Uplus booth were the rapid advancement of IIoT, the development of 5G-based B2B solutions, and the gradual convergence of IoT and AI.

Through a demonstration, IIoT reproduced examples already in use at many domestic and international industrial sites, as well as mechanisms operating in actual factories. In particular, through a demonstration of flying and controlling an actual drone in Boeun, Chungcheongbuk-do, located 140km away from the control center inside the exhibition hall, the capabilities of an autonomous industrial drone could be confirmed.

The 'Intelligent CCTV,' a 5G communication-based B2B solution, and the C-V2X communication board for intelligent transportation systems were also noteworthy. Unlike standard CCTVs, the 'Intelligent CCTV' can automatically track intruders, count the number of people entering and exiting, and analyze and manage people and vehicles. The 'C-V2X (Cellular Vehicle to Everything) communication board' was evaluated as a technology capable of reducing traffic accidents by detecting risks in advance using 5G.

In the Smart City Zone, visitors could explore efficient urban environments featuring various services based on LG Uplus's nationwide mobile IoT network. These included services applying AI analysis and NB-IoT technology for citizen safety and a pleasant environment, energy and utility services that enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness through smart facility management utilizing NB-IoT, GPS, and sensor technologies, and transportation services that provide optimal information and solutions to drivers, pedestrians, and local governments to improve quality of life and urban competitiveness.

The home IoT service, which maintains the number one domestic market share, could be seen in the smart home exhibition zone. Visitors could experience smart home services that have evolved further through the integration of IoT and AI. In the experience room designed to resemble an actual home, visitors could view approximately 20 types of home IoT appliances and devices currently in commercial service, centering on U+ Our Home AI. In particular, we were able to observe the evolving Home IoT sector, including newly emerging areas such as sleep monitors and sleep lights, as well as voice control for older appliances that lack IoT capabilities.

Hyun Jun-yong, Executive Vice President and Head of the IoT/AI Division at LG Uplus, stated, “Based on our experience as the No. 1 home IoT company in Korea, we plan to create customer value in various B2B areas as well,” adding, “Through this, we hope to establish a virtuous cycle ecosystem where the entire IoT industry grows and develops.”
