Semiconductor Products and New Technologies Unveiled in Silicon Valley

EUV Lithography 7nm Process Production Begins
On the 17th, Samsung Electronics held 'Samsung Tech Day 2018' at its headquarters in Silicon Valley, USA, and introduced next-generation semiconductor solutions capable of maximizing customer value creation.

This event, held for the second time following last year under the theme 'Samsung @ The Heart of Everything,' was attended by over 500 people, including global IT companies, media, analysts, and tech power bloggers.

Samsung Electronics Vice President Choi Joo-sun, Head of the Americas; Vice President Jang Sung-jin of the Memory DRAM Development Division; Vice President Kye Gye-hyun of the FLASH Development Division; Vice President Jung Jae-heon of the Solution Development Division; and Executive Vice President Han Jin-man of the Product Planning Team, along with key figures from the global IT industry and developers, attended the event to share the latest trends in the semiconductor market and cutting-edge technology.

Daniel Newman, Senior Analyst at Futurum Research, delivered a keynote speech on the topic of 'Transformation of our Industry,' followed by two themes: 'Samsung Technology Leadership' and 'Eco-Build/Partnership.'
In addition, a lecture by Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak and a panel discussion featuring key figures from Microsoft, Xilinx, Hewlett-Packard Enterprise, and VMWare were held, attracting significant interest from the attendees.

In his opening remarks, Choi Joo-sun, Executive Vice President and Head of Samsung Electronics Americas, stated, "As big data analysis and AI technologies become widely adopted, the next-generation IT market is undergoing innovative changes to enhance customer value," adding, "I am very pleased to unveil the potential for semiconductor technology advancement and next-generation products to customers leading the global IT market."

Meanwhile, at this event, Samsung Electronics’ Memory Business Division introduced a wide range of next-generation products and technologies, including the server-use '256GB 3DS RDIMM,' enterprise-grade 7.68TB 4-bit server SSD, and 6th generation V-NAND technology. The Foundry Business Division also announced that it has completed the development of the 7-nanometer foundry process (7LPP, Low Power Plus) using EUV (Extreme Ultraviolet) lithography technology and has commenced production.
