Simultaneous hosting of the Data Economy Case Exploration Conference
The 2018 Korea Electronics Show, where you can learn about the present and future of the Korean electronics industry, will be held at COEX in Samseong-dong, Seoul, from Wednesday, the 24th, to Saturday, the 27th.

Held under the theme "Convergence and Innovation for Better Future!", this event consists of the Korea Electronics Show, Smart Biz Expo, Semiconductor Exhibition, and Display Industry Exhibition, awaiting visitors.

The 2018 Korea Electronics Show is hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and organized by the Korea Electronics Industry Association (KEA), the Korea Semiconductor Industry Association (KSIA), and the Korea Display Industry Association (KDIA), with approximately 730 companies participating by setting up 1,922 booths.

This event, expected to be attended by a total of approximately 60,000 people, will serve as a venue to showcase the technological capabilities of companies actively operating in fields such as home appliances, components, materials, 3D content, mobile, software, computing, virtual and augmented reality, semiconductors, and displays.

Side events include the 13th Electronics & IT Day Awards Ceremony for Distinguished Contributors and the 7th KES Innovation Awards It is scheduled to take place, featuring business consultations for invited domestic and international buyers, conferences including the 2nd KES Tech Insight, seminars, and international academic events.


Notable Event, 2nd KES Tech Insight
The 2nd KES Tech Insight Conference was organized to share rich real-world case studies on the data economy and business.

Businesses utilizing data, such as artificial intelligence investment analysis systems that provide investment sentiment information by analyzing big data in the market, services that recommend customized products in real time by collecting and analyzing user behavior information, and credit cards that apply personalized services through big data such as customer location, situation, and experience, are rapidly spreading as if competing with each other.

As such, data is emerging as the fourth core management resource to drive global economic change in the current era of the Smart Revolution, following iron and coal during the Industrial Revolution and the IT Revolution and the Internet. The explosion and combination of smart environments—such as the Internet, mobile devices, and social media—along with social, IoT, and life-log data, play a key role in driving the information society and are increasing the influence of data on almost all industries and individuals.

Under these circumstances, the technology receiving attention changes every year, and companies face unexpected confusion in formulating future technology strategies. Nevertheless, major industries such as electronics, automobiles, manufacturing, and distribution are applying or attempting Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies based on various data.

Furthermore, to revitalize the era of the data economy, where the utilization of data acts as a catalyst for the development of other industries and creates new value, the government is also promoting open data policies such as the creation of a convenient data access ecosystem and the open source movement.

The Fourth Industrial Revolution ecosystem is characterized by inter-industry connectivity, allowing achievements in a specific industry to be applied to other industries. This is why the sharing and benchmarking of results are crucial.

The 2nd KES Tech Insight is an event organized by KEA to help the industry understand data. The 2nd KES Tech Insight will be held for three days from Wednesday, the 24th, to Saturday, the 27th, at Conference Rooms 317 and 318 of COEX in Samseong-dong, under the theme of “Data Economy and Business.”

With diverse content across various industries such as IoT, big data, VR and AR, autonomous vehicles, 3D printing, distribution, and broadcasting, you can get a comprehensive overview of the current state of domestic and international technology through explanations by field experts and real-world case studies.

This conference will be held with the following themes by session: IoT & Big Data Conference, 2018 Broadcasting Equipment & Construction & Operation Briefing, VR & AR Conference, Autonomous Vehicle Technology Status and Outlook Seminar, 3D Printing Industry Conference, and Intelligent Distribution Conference.

“The era of the data economy will be intelligent and connected based on data, and new added value will be created as individual business models are linked,” said Lim Ho-gi, Head of Division at KEA. “Therefore, it is time to focus on connecting individual domestic and international business cases and to consider how to integrate the data I possess with other businesses.”
