KT to Apply Public Wi-Fi Solutions to Boracay
Global social contribution cases following Bangladesh and Cambodia

The 'Smart Boracay' project, which KT Chairman Hwang Chang-gyu proposed to the Philippine government last June and which the construction work was carried out on, has been completed. With this, KT has been able to provide tourists from all over the world with a significantly improved Boracay travel environment compared to the past.
KT announced on the 29th that it attended the reopening ceremony of Boracay in the Philippines on the 26th (local time) and introduced the 'Smart Boracay' project to tourists. The opening ceremony, held at Boracay’s Cagban Port, was attended by KT Global Consulting/Implementation Team Leader Kim Seong-in, Philippine Environment Secretary Roy Cimatu, and other Philippine government and KT officials.

KT has been carrying out the 'Smart Boracay' project since June, which builds smart infrastructure using information and communication technology (ICT) in major areas of the island during the environmental improvement work on Boracay that the Philippine government started in April.

Through the 'Smart Boracay' project, KT first installed free public Wi-Fi for tourists in Boracay's main tourist destinations, White Beach and Cagban Port. In the future, it is expected that the convenience of tourists using mobile internet, such as searching maps and using messengers, will increase in White Beach and Cagban Port. In addition, Cagban Port has installed intelligent CCTV capable of facial recognition and a solar power system capable of producing approximately 35,000 kW of electricity annually.
A control center has been built in Manocmanoc, about a 5-minute walk from the port, to create an environment where the intelligent CCTV system installed in Cagban Port can be monitored in real time through a large display. In particular, KT has also conducted training to transfer its control center operation know-how to local areas.
KT also provided ICT solutions to schools and hospitals for the residents of Boracay. A smart school solution was applied to one classroom at Balabag Elementary School, which can conduct cutting-edge classroom classes for up to 30 students through a wireless network between electronic whiteboards and tablet PCs.

With the E-healthcare solution and two remote ultrasound examination devices provided to the Ciriaco S. Tirol hospital, examination results can be checked in real time through the E-healthcare solution installed on a tablet PC. In the future, KT plans to continue its global social contribution activities along with expanding its presence in overseas markets.
