Infineon Technologies AG launched a new family of Intelligent Power Modules (IPM) on the 31st.

The CIPOS Maxi IM818 series integrates various power and control components to increase reliability and optimize PCB size and system cost.

Available in the industry's smallest DIP 36x23D package for 1200V IPMs, the CIPOS Maxi delivers high power density and performance.

CIPOS Maxi is suitable for use in low-power drives of motors, pumps, fans and active PFC applications in HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) systems.

Adopting an insulated dual in-line molded housing, CIPOS Maxi provides excellent thermal performance and electrical insulation, meeting the EMI requirements and overload protection needs of demanding designs. In addition to the protection features, it has a separate UL certified temperature thermistor built in.

The CIPOS Maxi features robust 6-channel silicon-on-insulator (SOI) gate drivers with dead-time protection to prevent damage caused by transients. It also provides undervoltage lockout and overcurrent shutdown on all channels.

The CIPOS Maxi's multi-function pins offer increased design flexibility for a variety of applications. Access to the lower emitter pins allows for monitoring of all phase currents, making the device easy to control.
