Cisco announced on the 14th that it supports the faster and more reliable adoption of cloud services by integrating security and software-defined WAN network (SD-WAN) technologies.

This is due to the emergence of a new cloud edge that meets both networking and security needs as today's organizations manage applications within various clouds, including public, private, and SaaS, and a culture is being created where people access work from anywhere, away from the office.

Until now, the IT industry has had no choice but to select either application experience or security when adopting SD-WAN solutions.

Cisco SD-WAN is designed to have sufficient flexibility to solve current problems and prepare for future threats.
Cisco has combined security with SD-WAN technology. Cisco SD-WAN devices are equipped with advanced security features, ranging from application-aware enterprise firewalls and intrusion prevention to URL filtering, enabling integrated management from a single dashboard on a single platform. Cisco SD-WAN is powered by Talos, a cyber threat intelligence solution.

Cloud security deployment has also been simplified. Cisco Umbrella is integrated into Cisco SD-WAN, enabling the blocking of threat access before a network connection is established.

The application experience has also been improved. Cisco has partnered with Microsoft to enhance the Office 365 application experience for users. Unlike other vendors, Cisco SD-WAN can monitor all possible paths to the MS Office 365 cloud in real time. By using MS Office URLs to detect the nearest cloud, Cisco guarantees up to 40% faster performance for users.
Cisco SD-WAN provides unique new services to service providers and partners based on open APIs. Accordingly, Cisco DevNet has established new SD-WAN learning labs and sandboxes to support innovation for developers and network engineers.

Cisco SD-WAN is based on the world's largest SD-WAN portfolio built on Viptela and Meraki, and expands customer choices with two new Integrated Service Routers (ISRs) designed for small and large branch offices.

In addition, the new SD-WAN Quick Start service enables rapid SD-WAN deployment and reduces customer risk. Cisco customers can streamline projects by gaining access to remote implementation and knowledge transfer capabilities at a fixed price.

Cisco supports the easy purchasing and management of new solutions. Both networking and security can be purchased through a single license model and managed through a single interface.

Meanwhile, among the new features announced this time, the Cisco ISR 1111X-8P and 4461 are available immediately, while Cisco SD-WAN security and Microsoft Office 365 software are scheduled to be released later this year.
