On the 20th, KT and Jeonju City signed a business agreement at Jeonju City Hall to manage and respond to fine dust based on ICT technologies such as IoT.

Under this agreement, KT and Jeonju City will analyze various environmental big data, including meteorological observations, to identify optimal fine dust measurement locations and install 40 air quality monitoring devices. These devices will be installed in priority management areas designated as high-traffic areas or areas with significant hazardous facilities, such as factories.

Additionally, KT utilizes the established infrastructure to collect and analyze real-time air quality conditions, including ultrafine dust, noise, temperature, and humidity, and provides the data to Jeonju City. Jeonju City will deliver air quality information produced by merging data provided by KT and data from the fine dust measurement network operated by the government to the 'Jeonju City Air Quality Information System.'

Air quality information transmitted through the Jeonju City Air Quality Information System will be disclosed through real-time status boards installed at Jeonju City Hall and community centers starting in December to ensure the safety and health of citizens and the convenience of outdoor activities.

In addition, the two organizations plan to expand related service areas through continuous consultation, including ▲gradual expansion of air quality measurement infrastructure, ▲integrated fine dust control based on an integrated environmental platform, ▲establishment of a real-time response system for groups sensitive to fine dust, such as infants and the elderly, and ▲establishment of a living environment management system for heat waves and water pollution.

Jeonju Mayor Kim Seung-soo said, “Jeonju has the worst fine dust levels nationwide, so we must be fully prepared to manage our citizens’ lives,” and added, “Through our collaboration with KT, we will actively support the 530,000 citizens of Jeonju so that they can breathe safer air.”

Park Yong-man, executive director of KT’s Jeonbuk Customer Center, said, “We will actively work to ensure that Jeonju City and KT can take the lead in establishing measures related to fine dust, which will be dealt with at the level of a national disaster in the future,” and “We will take the lead in recognizing the need for fine dust measurement and management not only in Jeonju City but nationwide and expanding the application of related technologies.”
