1TB, 2TB, and 4TB Terabyte SSD lineup
Achieves speeds equivalent to TLC SATA SSDs
Sequential launch in 50 countries worldwide starting in December
Samsung Electronics is launching the industry's first terabyte (TB) class 4-bit (QLC) SATA SSD, the '860 QVO series'.

This product will be introduced sequentially in 50 countries globally, including Korea, the United States, China, and Germany, starting in December.

The 860 QVO series features high-capacity storage of 1, 2, and 4TB, providing a reasonable solution for consumers seeking a fast computing environment.

Samsung Electronics introduced the industry's first V-NAND-based 3-bit (TLC) SATA SSD '850 EVO' in 2014, and plans to rapidly expand the terabyte-class high-capacity SSD market by launching the 4-bit-based SSD '860 QVO'.

Samsung Electronics has equipped the 860 QVO 4TB model with an MJX controller optimized for the SATA interface and 4GB of LPDDR4 DRAM, and applied the Intelligent Turbo Write function to achieve sequential read performance equivalent to existing 3-bit SATA SSDs (5It achieved 50MB/s) and write (520MB/s) speeds.

In particular, Samsung Electronics provides reliability optimized for general PC users based on its expertise in the memory storage market. The 860 QVO 4TB model offers up to 1,440 TB in TBW (Total Bytes Written), a metric used to gauge the lifespan of an SSD, or guarantees a 3-year warranty.

"As the number of users who work with high-definition multimedia data and enjoy high-spec games increases, the demand for high-capacity, high-performance SSDs is also growing rapidly," said Maeng Kyung-moo, Senior Vice President of Brand Product Marketing at Samsung Electronics' Memory Business Division. "The 860 QVO will lead the terabyte SSD market by satisfying the needs of consumers who want a more comfortable PC usage environment, as well as providing a lineup with high reliability and reasonable prices."

Samsung Electronics' '860 QVO series' comes in a total of three models, including 4TB, 2TB, and 1TB, with expected consumer prices of $599.99, $299.99, and $149.99, respectively.
