Onyx screens debut at China's Shoudu cinema.
14m wide and 7.2m long, about twice the size of the existing one
Parallel screening of 4K resolution 2D and 3D movies
On the 7th, Samsung Electronics introduced the first 14-meter-wide large 'Onyx' screen to the Shoudou Cinema in Beijing, China, and held an opening celebration event.

The newly introduced Onyx screen measures 14m wide and 7.2m high, which is 1.4 times wider and about twice the screen size compared to the previous screen.

It also supports 4K resolution, HDR video, and up to 300 nits of brightness, enabling clearer and more vivid picture quality.

The Onyx screen uses Samsung's unique LED screen technology to play 3D images without compromising brightness or picture quality, and its wide viewing angle allows you to enjoy the 3D viewing experience from any seat, not just the center seat.

The Shodu Cinema, which opened in Beijing in 1937 and is famous for showing the first color film, is a representative cinema in China. The plan is to develop the theater, which will feature the world's largest onyx screen, into a complex cultural space where visitors can enjoy not only movies but also game competitions, concerts, and cultural performances.

ShowoFollowing the opening ceremony, both theaters screened a 3D preview of the superhero film "Aquaman," with audiences praising the onyx screen for bringing the vast ocean world of Atlantis to life.

“We are very excited to open the world’s largest onyx theater at our cinema,” said Deng Yonghong, CEO of Shoudou Cinemas. “Shouudou Cinemas will establish itself as a new landmark not only in China but also in the global film industry.”
