VMware received top scores in two out of three categories in Gartner's "Gartner Critical Capabilities for WAN Edge Infrastructure" report.

This report evaluated core capabilities, including SD-WAN, routing, and WAN optimization, across three categories: small-to-medium regional WANs (with 50 or fewer locations); global WANs (with 1,000 or more locations across two or more continents); and WANs for large-scale retail environments such as gas stations and convenience stores. VMware received the highest scores in both categories: small-to-medium regional WANs (with 50 or fewer locations); and global WANs (with 1,000 or more locations across two or more continents). VMware received the highest scores, with 4.19 and 4.1, respectively, in both categories.

VMware NSX SD-WAN by VeloCloud is available as a SaaS or on-premises software solution through VMware service providers, authorized resellers, and system integrators (SIs).

VMware was selected as a leader in the WAN Edge Infrastructure category of Gartner's global IT evaluation index 'Magic Quadrant' published in October of this year. Gartner analyzed 20 companies related to WAN edge infrastructure for 'completeness of vision' and 'ability to execute', and VMware received a particularly high rating in the category of 'completeness of vision'.
