LG Ultrawide Monitors: Perfect for Professional Work
Samsung's The Frame is the first to feature QLED displays.


A fierce battle between Samsung and LG, the two leading players in the domestic display industry, is expected to unfold at the '2019 Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2019)' held in Las Vegas, USA from January 8 to 12, 2019.


LG Electronics Unveils Three Monitors Ideal for Professionals
LG Electronics announced on the 19th that it will be unveiling monitor products such as the wide-screen 'LG UltraWide', the gaming-only 'LG UltraGear', and the high-resolution 'LG UltraFine'.
The new LG UltraWide monitor (49WL9) measures 49 inches and has a 32:9 aspect ratio. It boasts a dual QHD resolution (5120X1440) with pixels densely arranged across the screen. With a pixel count of 7.37 million, it's like having two 27-inch QHD (2560X1440) monitors side by side.

The wide 32:9 screen ratio is suitable for professional work such as video editing, music production, and stock trading. It is also ideal for multitasking environments where you open multiple windows and work simultaneously.

This product supports HDR (High Dynamic Range) 10, a high-contrast technology, to accurately reproduce the expression intended by video content creators. It also boasts excellent color expression, satisfying 99% of the sRGB color space standard.

LG Electronics considered the work environment of financial institutions during the product planning stage. The device features a large, wide screen and high resolution, making it ideal for professional tasks like chart analysis. LG Electronics plans to launch this product in North America in the first half of 2019 and expand its availability to other countries in the future.

Also, another new product, the 38-inch gaming monitor 'LG UltraGear (38GL950G)' processes 144 frames per second (144Hz) to smoothly express even fast movements. It has a QHD+ (3840X1600) resolution equivalent to 4K. It also applies NVIDIA's G-Sync to minimize screen tearing and stuttering. Users can enjoy high-definition games with complete immersion.

Color reproducibility is also excellent, satisfying 98% of the DCI-P3 standard, a standard for film production. Nanoparticles applied to the IPS panel eliminate color artifacts, accurately representing the artist's intent.

LG Electronics will also be exhibiting the 27-inch LG UltraFine 4K monitor (32UL950). This monitor boasts a 4K (3840 x 2160) resolution, making it ideal for editing ultra-high-definition photos and videos. It features a Thunderbolt 3 port, capable of video transfer speeds of up to 40 Gbps. It is capable of transmitting a 4K quality movie in just 30 seconds.

“We will further expand our leadership in the premium market with premium monitor products that provide the best working environment,” said Jang Ik-hwan, executive director of LG Electronics’ IT business division.


Artistic Home Decor: Samsung The Frame, Serif TV
Samsung Electronics announced on the 19th that it will unveil new lifestyle TVs, 'The Frame' and 'SERIF TV', which are equipped with QLED displays for the first time and enhance both design value and picture quality.
Samsung The Frame transforms everyday spaces into a gallery by displaying artwork like paintings and photographs through Art Mode. It features a light sensor that adjusts the artwork's colors based on ambient light and a display that mimics the texture of the canvas.

The 2019 The Frame is the first to feature a QLED display, offering 100% color volume, excellent contrast ratio, and deeper, richer blacks, providing the best picture quality when watching TV and the experience of appreciating a work of art when the TV is off.

Additionally, the new product features the AI voice recognition platform 'Bixby' to enhance usability. Not only does it integrate with broadcasting platforms such as Netflix, YouTube, Hulu, and Sling, but you can also control the TV with simple voice commands.

Meanwhile, The Frame's unique function as an art distribution platform has also been strengthened. The Samsung Art Store offers consumers access to over 1,000 works of art through collaborations with world-renowned galleries, museums, and artists. Samsung Electronics plans to build an even stronger art ecosystem through continued partnership expansion.
Designed by the world-renowned furniture designers Bouroullec brothers, the Serif TV is a product that focuses on aesthetic elements. Designed to blend naturally into any space, the product itself becomes an interior element.

Samsung Serif TV was recognized for its design value and won the world-renowned 'iF Design Award (International Forum Design Award)', the UK's 'Wallpaper Award', and Japan's 'Good Design Award' at the time of its release.

Samsung Electronics has enhanced the TV's original functions by applying a QLED display to its 2019 Serif TV and has maximized the interior effect by applying the Magic Screen function that shows lifestyle information and photos when the TV is off.

Users of the 2019 Serif TV will be able to experience the Bouroullec Palette, a collection of over 20 specialized Magic Screen modes designed by the Bouroullec brothers.

Samsung also plans to release new products by changing its lineup from the existing 24-40 inches to 43, 49, and 55 inches, reflecting the consumer preference for larger TVs.

Samsung Electronics has been selling Serif TVs primarily through furniture stores and department stores, but starting in 2019, it plans to expand distribution to general home appliance stores to increase consumer contact points.

Both The Frame and Serif TV are scheduled to be launched sequentially in major countries including the United States, Europe, and Korea starting in April 2019.

Samsung Electronics Visual Display Business Division Vice President Jong-seok Chu said, “In the past, TVs emphasized technical aspects such as picture quality and performance, but now they are positioned as lifestyle platforms that permeate consumers’ daily spaces.” He added, “Samsung will provide consumers with a viewing experience that goes beyond TV through these two new TVs.”
