Amazon, Warner, and others expand HDR10+ content production

HDR10+ Certification Center Established in China Following Korea, the US, and Japan

Samsung Electronics is strengthening cooperation with major global content providers and striving to expand its self-developed video standard technology, 'HDR10+'.

Samsung Electronics, in partnership with Amazon, one of the world's largest content providers, has significantly increased the number of HDR10+ premium video streaming content titles from around 100 last year to over 1,000 this year. Following this, Amazon has also expanded the introduction of HDR10+ features to the Fire Stick 4K streaming receiver, which was released in October.

Film production company Warner Bros. has produced over 70 HDR10+ titles to date. It plans to release more than 100 HDR10+ titles by early next year through various channels, including Blu-ray discs and streaming.
Major European streaming service providers are also joining the expansion of HDR10+ content. Rakuten, Europe's largest content provider, and MEGOGO, which holds significant influence in Eastern Europe, are scheduled to launch HDR10+ services in the first half of next year. ivi, Russia's largest content provider, launched Russia's first HDR10+ movie service this month.

Following the establishment of HDR10+ certification centers in Korea, the U.S., and Japan this year, Samsung Electronics plans to set up a certification center in China within the year to support TV manufacturers and content providers in adopting the HDR10+ logo and participating in the certification program.

In China, the spread of HDR10+ technology is expected to accelerate as major TV manufacturers such as Hisense, TCL, and Konka, which are preparing to implement HDR10+ next year, will be able to receive certification services more conveniently.

Samsung Electronics has also expanded cooperation with major mobile chip manufacturers. In addition to Samsung Exynos, Qualcomm has newly joined the HDR10+ camp and is incorporating this technology into its mobile AP, Snapdragon.

With the British semiconductor design firm ARM also joining the HDR10+ camp, the influence of HDR10+ is expected to gradually expand not only in the TV sector but also in the mobile sector.

Lee Hyo-gun, Vice President of Samsung Electronics’ Visual Display Business, stated, “Recently, HDR has emerged as an essential element in ultra-high-definition video,” adding, “We will continue to strengthen our leadership in HDR standards and maintain our influence in the global TV market.”
