CEVA-MM3101 Motion Recognition Software Solution for Image Vision Platform Announced
July 2, 2012 – CEVA (NASDAQ:CEVA), a leading licensee of platform solutions and DSP cores, and eyeSight Mobile Technologies, a leader in touch-free interfaces, announced today the release of a software-based motion recognition solution optimized for the CEVA-MM3101 image vision platform.
This integrated solution is designed for various smart devices such as smartphones, tablets, smart TVs, and automotive infotainment systems. eyeSight's software utilizes the CEVA-MM3101 to provide a competitive edge over other motion recognition-based technologies. For example, the CEVA-eyeSight solution consumes 20 times less power than ARM Cortex-A9-based solutions.

Vision-based motion recognition is one of the most popular technologies in the mobile and digital consumer electronics industries, providing semiconductor and OEM companies with a new field that enables them to differentiate their products and enable new value-added features. eyeSight’s HMI (Human Machine Interface) is currently the most innovative interface technology for embedded systems, utilizing the existing cameras of smart devices for touchless control.
The CEVA-eyeSight solution enables multiple hand gestures as well as palm detection and tracking, supporting multiple users up to 4.5 meters away in poorly lit environments. The complete solution, integrating eyesight software and the CEVA-MM3101, requires a clock of less than 70 MHz to run full motion applications and consumes less than 20 mW of power on a 28 nm process.
To further differentiate customer solutions, the fully programmable CEVA-MM3101 engine can be used to perform additional vision-based functions in software, such as face detection, eye tracking, 3D map generation, object tracking, and image enhancement applications.
